Welcome to Term 3!They say time flies when you are having fun, and last term certainly flew by!
And just like Term 2, this term is JAM PACKED with LOADS of fun and exciting activities all the way from the FLC to the SLC. We absolutely cannot wait to share with you the past highlights from last term up to now! Everyone has been engaging beautifully and interacting with each other positively and very inclusively. It is going to be a 10 week term, an opportunity for us to smash and achieve more learning goals as we continue to demonstrate our school values.
In the last week of Term 2, we had our Three-Way Interviews. It was an opportunity for the students to share their proudest learning achievements with their parents / guardians and celebrate their successes. The SLC actively participated in both the planning and presenting stage and enjoyed having a choice in what they’d like to showcase. The students displayed an amazing skill of being responsible and mastered the technique of managing their own learning and speaking publicly. Congratulations SLC!
In the second week of the school holidays, it was NAIDOC Week. As a school we celebrated this special event in Week 1. The theme for NAIDOC Week this year was ‘For our Elders’. Our school celebrated NAIDOC WEEK in different ways. They read books, wrote, learnt about some famous indigenous people or created some interesting artwork. Some students entered a colouring competition with the winners receiving a very special T-Shirt.
The SLC have loved reading a text called ‘The Scientists’ and learning about the amazing discoveries and inventions the First Nations People created and are finally being recognised for. The SLC have been working on their own Hall of Fame that will feature some first nations role models.
We are so lucky to have teachers at our school who have shared their stories and connections to some very inspirational people. Did you know, Miss Bishop has a very famous great grandmother who has received many awards for her writing including an Honorary Doctorate!
On the first Friday of the term we met up with the new friends we made on school camp. It was for the highly anticipated inter-school sports match!! Every team worked collaboratively with their peers to score many goals, and communicate positively with each other; demonstrating the four values: resilience, respect, collaboration and excellence. The netball game was an intense and close match for both the girls and mixed team. The soccer team played their hearts out and tried their best working together and like netball it was a very close one!
The Sof-crosse and AFL teams played just as positively and showed resilience and excellence. It was the Springvale Campus's day for Netball, Soccer and AFL but who knows what will happen next time.
And . . . . exciting news! Both the Netball and Soccer for both campuses have made it to the Grand Final. But, in our eyes all teams are winners! Go Springvale Rise!!!
It is now time to talk about lunchtime clubs for Term 3! As you may know there are new lunchtime clubs for students to participate in such as yoga club, cooking club, soccer club and way more just for you. It is a great opportunity to get involved in many different activities. For the cooking club there are 5 students that can go each week! But don't worry if you don't get in the first week your name will be put on a list for the week after that or even the week after that. How exciting!
As you may know we have many upcoming excursions and incursions for all students to participate in. We have swimming for the SLC starting on August 3rd and finishing on August 17th. The SLC Netball and Soccer teams on the Springvale Campus will also compete in the District Finals as they didn’t lose a match all season. Gee that’s amazing!
We also have heaps of other events such as Father's Day, Book Week Parade, Book Week Performances and MLC and SLC Author Talks. How lucky are we! We will provide updates and talk about some of these moments in our next newsletter!
Thanks for reading the Term 3 Week 2 Newsletter! Have an excellent Term.
