Snapshots from Springvale
Welcome back to Term 3!It is wonderful to have all the smiling faces back at school and ready for another fabulous term.
On Springvale Campus we have welcomed a number of news students who have settled in beautifully into our school community. A very warm, Springvale Rise welcome is also extended to Ms Billie Karac, who joins us as part of our teaching staff on Springvale Campus, as well as to Emma Huang and Roque Rosario who join us in casual Education Support roles. We also welcomed back Mrs Cottier who returned from her leave. The students loved hearing all about her Hawaiian holiday adventures.
The students and teachers on Springvale Campus have hit the ground running; continuing right where they left off before the holidays. They slipped right back into their routines and have shown a high level of engagement as they start their new learning and teaching cycles that will continue to build upon their achievements in Semester one.
Lots of special events are planned for this term, including different year level excursions and our very special Book Week Celebrations. Last week we celebrated National NAIDOC Week. The theme this year was ‘For Our Elders’. Elders are the foundation of our communities and role models for our children. The students enjoyed learning about the elders of the First Nations cultures but also reflecting on the importance of the elders in their own families and communities.
While the students and teachers were away enjoying their holidays a few buildings and grounds improvements have happened on Springvale Campus. New lights were installed throughout the buildings and have resulted in a much brighter environment for us all to work and learn in. Soft fall on MLC and SLC playgrounds has been topped up, as well as a few minor repairs made to make these spaces safe for our students to play in. A concrete path has also been laid alongside the back gate, which will provide a safer access to the school for everyone. Thank you to the City of Greater Dandenong for their support with this.
