Term 2 Holiday Planner

All students have been emailed a copy of the  Term 2 Holiday Planner with hard copies available at the Clemes Office. We encourage students to reflect on their progress to date and to review feedback on previous tasks. The planner also has lots of tips and tricks to support study and make the most of the time available. Remember, it’s very important to have a balance and to take care of mental and physical health - spend time with friends, exercise and make sure down time is a part of the plan! We acknowledge the importance of taking time to rest and rejuvenate, it is also important to begin revising for the upcoming August examinations.

Save the Date | Year 12 Leavers' Service

In 2023, The Friends' leadership team made the decision to combine and restructure the Year 12 Leavers' events to better align with the Purpose and Concerns of the School. Our goal is to provide students, families and staff with a meaningful culminating event following the final TCE and IB exams.

We are thrilled to invite you to The Friends' School Leavers' Service on the 20th of November in The Farrall Centre, starting at 4.30pm and followed by refreshments in the foyer. This service will not only celebrate all Year 12 students but will also acknowledge outstanding effort and achievement. By combining events, we eliminate the need for a separate awards ceremony in early 2024 when many students are unable to attend. We sincerely hope that this Service provides an opportunity for Year 12 students and their families to celebrate their contributions to The Friends' School.

TCE August Exams

The TCE Exams will run from Monday 7th August until Wednesday 16th August (inclusive). Students were given this information booklet last week, which contains all the information about the August exams, including the exam timetables. It is important that they familiarise themselves with this document and that they ensure they are on time for their exams. Students only need to come to school when they have an exam during this period, but are welcome to come in and study in the Library or Undercroft if they would like.

Backing up Data on your Laptop

All students have been reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure data is backed up from their laptop. TASC and the IBO do not accept computer malfunction as a valid reason for extension or other assessment consideration. Instructions have been emailed to students and can also be viewed in this video

Year 12 IB Mock Examinations

These will be held from 7-16 August  (inclusive). On Thursday 17 August, all Year 12 Visual Arts or Theatre students will have a 2-hour session. All other Year 12 students are not required to attend school on this day. All students were emailed a copy of the examination timetable and Group 6, 2-hour blocks last week. Students only need to come to school when they have an examination during this period - it is very important they are outside the examination room at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled examination. Students are welcome to study in the Library or Undercroft during the examination period.

Year 11 IBDP Core Days

During the Year 12 IBDP and TCE examination period, Year 11 IBDP students will have normal scheduled lessons. The exception to this will be the Core Days, which take place from 15-17 August. The focus of these days will be our Indigenous Knowledge unit.

  • Tuesday, August 15 will be the CAS Day (working with YMEP students)
  • Wednesday, August 16 will be the Theory of Knowledge Day (to be held at TMAG)
  • Thursday, August 17 will be the Extended Essay Day

Further details of these important days will be shared with families closer to the time.
