Foley House News

Mr Stan Kosiek

What a start we have had in Foley House for 2021!

With what just seemed a few days of secondary schooling under their belt, our Year 7’s strode into Camp Maranatha, where they enthusiastically engaged in the three-day program. They were welcomed into their new Pastoral Groups in Week 5.

The swimming carnival showed that the Foley boys hadn’t lost their competitive edge, finishing strongly on results despite our Year 9 and 10 swimmers unable to compete due to their competition being cancelled. Well done to the boys for their efforts in the pool.

Our seniors celebrated with their parents, our inaugural mass and then a few weeks later dressed up for their formal at City Hall. It was a proud night for families and the College to see the boys enjoying each other’s company with their partners on such a special occasion. Even the conga line made a rare appearance on the night.

Theatre Sports added a cultural element to House activities. After a very strong showing in the heats, our formidable Foley team managed to get to the semi-finals only to be narrowly defeated by Gilroy.

Year 8 recently engaged in a Pastoral Day, including activities centred on personal development, team building and leadership at Mt Coot-tha. Although the wet conditions added to the challenges, the boys stepped up and met them head-on. Well done!

As the boys move toward the end of term, we encourage them to place a strong focus on their academic tasks with assessments due over the coming weeks.
