Social Media Warning – Whitebox Chat

Parents need to be aware that a browser extension from Google called Whitebox Chat is currently popular amongst students. This browser allows students to set up secret chat rooms. It has been blocked by both the State and Catholic education systems in Queensland, and here at Marist College Ashgrove, whilst the boys access the internet via the College network. I would encourage all parents to have a conversation with their son/s, about the potential dangers of misuse, including inappropriate comments that can be circulated through social media platforms.

Lost Property

There currently is a high volume of lost property items in Student Admin. These items range from reading glasses, watches, pairs of shoes and runners, water bottles and various uniform items. Many have no name and have been in storage for over 12 months. Families who have lost such items are encouraged to have their boys visit Student Admin by the end of the school day on Friday to identify any lost items. Next week, leftover items will be donated to charity.

Influenza vaccination advice from Queensland Health

As we move towards the cooler months of the year, Queensland Health has provided advice on the coming influenza season.

Preventing the flu is a joint effort in schools. Students, parents, and staff need to work together and take the necessary precautions to stop the flu from circulating in the school environment.
