We have a new look newsletter!
It is always good to review practices, make use of new technology and innovations that can help us communicate more effectively. Our newsletter is now electronic. You will continue to receive a link through Compass, but you will see different headings that you can click on to read the details. This gives us more flexibility and the ability to add more photos. I hope you enjoy reading our new look newsletter.
Our newsletter provides information, and we also use it to celebrate our achievements. It is great for families to read the newsletter together so that students and their parents/guardians know what is happening. It is also a really practical and useful reading activity you can do each week.
Happy Reading!
Attendance
We are continuing to monitor attendance as we know that every minute of learning is precious. There has been a huge decrease in unexplained absences, so we thank you for letting us know why your child might be away.
We are now starting to look at lateness. Our data shows that we have a large number of students on any given day who are late. This can be for a few minutes and some for even longer. Students who are not here at the beginning of the day miss out on valuable information and instruction. They also miss out on connecting with their peers. Let’s get everyone to school by 8:50 each morning.
Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey
In this newsletter you have information about our annual community survey. The survey is sent to a randomly selected part of our community. If you are invited to participate, we would love your feedback. Feedback can acknowledge what we are doing well, and you can help highlight our next steps. I thank you in advance for taking some time to complete the survey.
Year 6 Transition
The Secondary Schools have now confirmed Year 7 enrolments for 2022. Your child in Year 6 will bring home a letter confirming which school they have been accepted into. If you have any questions or there has been a change to you circumstances, you must contact the Secondary School and Ms. McFarlane at Deer Park West PS as soon as possible.
Athletics Day
Congratulations to all the students and teachers on a great Athletics day. It was a bit of a windy and cold day, but the sun was out, and the students tried hard and had a lot of fun. Well done to everyone, and a special thanks to Mr. Woods for coordinating the day.
