Year 7 Camp

On Wednesday 5/5 the Year 7 students of Greensborough College boarded the buses to Mornington Peninsula. We spent 3 days at Iluka Lodge in Shoreham with the staff from OutBeyond and participated in a range of activities which included a beach conservation walk, tree climbing, crate stacking, canoeing, exploring Ashcombe maze, tackling the obstacle course, participating in the Greensborough College talent show and making many new friends.

It was a great camp for the staff and students and we can’t wait for Year 8 camp in 2022.

A big thank you to Mr Heading, Mr O’Neil, Mr Ravenhall, Mr Davis, Ms Biviano and Ms Zuell for coming to camp and leading the students in their group activities.

My favourite thing from Year 7 camp was canoeing. I enjoyed the canoeing because it was quite fun to row around the lake and play games. Even though it was fun, it was also hard and difficult to control, many times my partner and I got stuck in the giant weeds on the sides of the river. Another activity that I really enjoyed was the tree climbing and crate stacking. The crate stacking was much harder than it seemed, it was also very wobbly but a good challenge. I really enjoyed sleeping in the tents. The cabins were nice as well as they were warmer. I really enjoyed the roles that the camp gave to us. I loved the fact that a student was the CEO and in control of most things. For future year 7's, whatever you think about camp doesn't matter because as soon as you are there and doing an activity you will love it.

My favourite thing about camp activity was canoeing, I really enjoyed it because of the activities we did in the water, at first we learnt how to row and then we did the fun games like pirate ship and the Viking run. The best meal there was probably be the tacos, at first I didn't think it would that good but it was delicious. I loved the cabins and the tents were a bit wet but was so nice listening to the sounds at night like the crickets and bugs. The roles were also really fun, I got the journalist and CEO, the journalist had to interview people about camp so far and the CEO was like the boss of the group we were in. The staff there were really nice and the teachers were a great help as well, thank you to the teachers that came to camp and helped out with everything.
