Murdoch Program Update

Year 7

ANZAC / Humanities

On Thursday M73 enjoyed some delicious Anzac cookies after Charli Prentice blew us away with her amazing Anzac Wreath. The class was then on a sugar high thanks to their little treat.-Charli Prentice

Year 7 HPE - Beats and Bodie

Beats and bodies was a fun incursion where a professional dancer came in and showed us a few hip hop moves. There was upbeat music, and we got to dance with our friends. We even had numerous dance battles against another class. This was one of my favourite  incursions so far. – Jasmine Wilson

A few days ago we did the beats and bodies hip-hop incursion. Dagogo came in to teach us an awesome dance routine, doing it step by step first, and then all together. It was so much fun when we did the freestyle part at the end and everyone was having fun. I really hope we do it again!! – Charli Prentice

Through the 27th to the 29th the year sevens got the opportunity to participate in a hip-hop dancing session! Dagogo selflessly came to the school to give the year sevens an engaging, exiting and entertaining dance session filled with fun activities that had us dancing and bursting with joy the entire time. The beats and bodies incursion was a wonderful opportunity for the year sevens to express themselves through dancing

Year 7 English

This term, we have been working on connotations and a persuasive speech (oral presentation). The oral presentation is our GAT that we will be working on this term. The connotations are to help with preparation in NAPLAN. – Sonny Deas

Year 7 Indonesian

Halo! (hello) in Indonesian the year 7s have been completing their Indonesian GATs (General Assessment Test). We have also been learning about how to have a conversation. For the GAT we had to have a conversation in Indonesian with one of our teachers. We had to introduce ourselves and then say our age, where we live and where we come from. The Murdoch extension was to say their favourite colour and if we like school. – Molly Martin

Year 7 Maths

A couple of weeks ago, all of the Murdoch students at EMC completed a maths incursion. We played heaps of math and critical thinking games. Some of the games were so complicated only four people/groups had ever solved them! These groups include students at NASA! This was a really interesting incursion, and I hope to do it again someday.- Jasmine Wilson

Year 7 Food Technology

We cooked 'Vegetable pies' last week and I wouldn't eat them (because I am a picky eater) so Dad had them at work, however, we made Easter egg muffins last term and they were DELICIOUS! We made wraps several times as well, and made a sort of chicken-wrap thing too. -Remi Briggs

Year 7 Music

In year 7 Music, M73 has been working on the Louisiana Mudslap, keyboard and bass guitar. The Louisiana Mudslap is a rhythmic group routine that requires immense focus. On keyboard, we have been perfecting chords and learning songs, and while practicing the bass, we have been practicing a four beat jam.

Student Leadership

Last week a couple teachers gathered some student leaders to film a video for the teachers for Curriculum Day. It was our points of view (student's point of view) on what the school could improve on and things like what we think the school's values are. It was really fun, and we got to engage with other student leaders.- Thomas Bell

Victorian High Achiever’s Program

VHAP is a high achievers program to do with English and Math. So far we have learned with multiplying equations to see what happens to the numbers. We have also done worded problems and have to explain our answers in an online forum. –Sonny Deas

VHAP has been really fun! I have been doing the Math side of it, and we have been learning about the traversability of shapes. There have been homework tasks, and they have been fun and have helped me understand the lessons a bit more. The teacher is really engaging and really helpful to, not only to myself, but the rest of the group. – Thomas Bell
