Music Camp

On Sunday 2 May, many ensembles such as Concert Band, Guitar Ensemble, Intermediate Strings, Senior Strings and Pipe Band joined together outside the music building ready for a two-day music camp. We started off by setting up all the ensembles in various rooms around the music building and got straight to rehearsals. Mainly focusing on the upcoming Twilight Concerts.

After rehearsing for a productive few hours, we packed all the music equipment up and headed off to Camp Quaranup for the night. We unloaded everything to set it up again for more rehearsal time, followed by the music students getting settled in their designated dorms. We ended the day off with a delicious meal followed by an entertaining quiz night organised and hosted by our two Arts Captains Toby Manson and Charis Poole.

The next morning we were woken up bright and early by the Pipe Band. Thanks guys, everyone loves the sound of the Pipe Band at 6.30am in the morning! We were truly awake for another day of valuable rehearsals with our band/ensemble and perfecting our pieces. That morning we were also joined by the Junior Voices arriving from school for the day.

Later that day, we packed up everything and headed on the bus back to school, while finishing the camp off with a short movie in the hall.

Overall, a big thank you to all the teachers who organised and supervised the camp. The camp was a fun experience for all students, especially for the Junior School students as for most of them it was their first music camp, while for the Year Twelves it was their last. It was a great time for effective rehearsal time, and bonding with everyone in and out of the rehearsal space.
