Dear Sacred Heart Community

Staffing Changes

Jenny's departure has necessitatedsome changes to our staffing beginning from next term and continuing until the end of the 2021 school year. 

Jenny's two days teaching in the Year 5/6 class will be taken by Amanda on a Friday and Claudia Kavanagh on a Thursday. With Amanda now teaching four days in the class and Claudia one of our experienced emergency teachers teaching one day, the transition should be as seamless as possible.

Jenny's Deputy Principal position will be filled by Liz. To accommodate Liz's move into the Deputy Principal role, her Student Wellbeing role will now become Kate's responsibility. Liz will continue to work four days a week, Monday to Thursday. To assist with leadership duties that arise on a Friday, Marty and Kate will work alternate weeks .

Marty will continue with his Math's Coordinator role and now with his role helping with Deputy Principal duties each alternate Friday, he will be four days a week in his class. The classroom teacher each Friday will be Jessica.

As Jessica is now teaching Year 5/6 each Friday, Denise's Year 2/3 class will be taught each alternate Friday when she is completing her ICT role by James.

Whenever a school needs to replace a leader with Jenny's qualities, there will be a period of transition. However I am very confident that the staff who have moved into new positions, will work diligently, and that we will continue to work together as a staff to ensure our students, your children, will be educated in a school that is constantly striving for improvement. 

Father Jan

At our assembly tomorrow we will have the opportunity to say farewell to Father Jan as he embarks on the next stage of his ministry journey. I only became aware of Father Jan's next appointment late into week two when we returned to school. My initial reaction was disappointment for our school and wider parish. This disappointment has gradually dissipated as I have come to know Jan's replacement, Father Aloysius who is eager to continue Father Jan's vision of forging closer relationships between our school and parish.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Father Jan for his support and genuine interest in our school. I have been fortunate to work with a Parish Priest who has given me the autonomy to implement practices that adhere to my vision for Sacred Heart, but who has always been available as a wise council when I have needed advice, clarity or another perspective when faced with a challenge. Jan in his quiet, unobtrusive manner has always been very pastoral to our families in times of need. I know Jenny would agree, Jan has made the organisation of Sacramental Programs and School Masses seamless. Jan has always had a place in his thoughts and prayers for our students and this was no more evident during 2020 with the challenges we faced with COVID.

Thank you Jan for all you have done for our school over these past four years. You will be in our prayers and thoughts as you embark on the next exciting stage of your faith journey.

Canteen

As mentioned in a previous newsletter, lunch orders with the Parade College Preston Campus Canteen will resume next term. Lunch orders will commence on Friday 30th April and will be able to be ordered each Friday after this date until the end of the year. If you wish to place an order, it needs to be given to your child's teacher by the Thursday. Orders need to be written clearly on a paper bag with your child's name and class. We ask that the correct money be placed in an envelop inside the bag. You will notice from the menu detailed below, that there is an emphasis on healthy food. We will monitor the number of orders each week, and if we perceive that demand is high will look at introducing a second day for lunch orders.

Last Day of School

A reminder that Term One concludes next Thursday 1st April at 3.20pm. School will resume for all students on Monday 19th April
