Visit to VCE Partner schools in China
Since signing agreements last year, Northcote High School has worked with two Chinese schools who both deliver subjects of the VCE “in Country.” This is an alternative means of delivering the VCE, to being an international student and studying in Australia. The desired outcome for the student is the same - gaining an ATAR and going on to study at tertiary level in Australia. All of the program costs are carried by the Chinese school and Chinese parents, but it is an attractive option because children don’t have to leave home to complete a foreign certificate. And of course, it’s cheaper for the family.
Rosalie Maidment, Kun Qian and Nick Murphy visited Hengshui No1 High School and Baotou Foreign Languages School at the end of last term, to market the VCE to new and existing parents and to check up how our 77 VCE students are travelling. 22 are completing VCE Unit 3 and 4 this year, the remainder are embarking on Units 1 and 2. A number of NHS teachers will attend the VCE Conference in X’ian, China during the July holidays.
