Students get creative for World Poetry Day
We received some wonderful entries to the World Poetry Day competition which invited students to submit a poem inspired by the theme 'Change'.
Our thanks to everyone who entered, and congratulations to the winning poet, Year 11's Ruby Wright. Here is her poem:
Published poet Marjan Mossammaparast ran a one hour poetry workshop, giving students the opportunity to read poetry, write poetry and contemplate a bowl of fruits! Students left with a stamped postcard to send to a recipient of their choice.
To celebrate International Poetry Day, the English and Art Faculties collaborated to run a lunchtime workshop in the library. Students folded the pages of old books to create book sculptures, and took black textas to torn-out pages in order to create their own poems out of other people’s words.
The students did a wonderful job and their awesome work is on display in the library!
