Creativity on display

Year 7's skull portraits

Year 7

Year 7s have been learning to draw a face shape, and how to create form by using shading and pattern techniques. This is so they will be ready to try out portraiture face shapes at the end of term 2 and start of term 3.

Year 7 Skulls are displayed on the wall in C Block foyer, and in room C1.

Year 9

Year 9 have continued their work on the Great Pacific dump - using fully recyclable products such as paper, cardboard and cans (rather than plastic bottles ).

Their work can be found in C Block Foyer.

See Northcote Top Arts students now at NGV

Students Yianni Rowlands and Charlie Robert were proud participants in the 2018 Top Arts exhibition opening at NGV Australia, Federation Square. Some artists wait their whole lives to be part of an exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria and many never get there. Being one of the artists of this prestigious exhibition is an acknowledgement to the creative thinking, skill, determination and hard work of both students who put in an exemplary year in 2017 Studio Art. This drive was evident in the whole 2017 Studio Art cohort who despite being a larger than average size achieved excellent VCAA results across the board. These results culminated in Yianni and Charlie’s selection out of thousands of talented students from all over Victoria for the 2018 exhibition. This is the first time at Northcote High that ANY student has received this accolade and it should be acknowledged and celebrated. This achievement is not only a wonderful moment for both students and their family’s but is also a comment upon the strength of creativity within the school and the greater Northcote area.

Top Arts is open from March 23 to 15 July NGV Australia, Federation Square Ground Level, NGV Design Studio or you can have a look online at https://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/exhibition/top-arts-2018/
