Inspiring Girls!  Passionate and Purposeful Women!

Kilbreda is blessed to have 900 amazing girls gift our College community a wonderful array of talents. Here is a snapshot of some of our girls:

Elysia Gilmour

  • Year Level: Year 8
  • Primary School Attended: Saint Louis de Montfort’s, Aspendale
  • What is your favourite activity to be involved in at Kilbreda? Why? My favourite activity that I am involved in at Kilbreda is the Junior Choir. The choir is where we have a fantastic time singing great songs and my voice has improved so much. I really enjoyed the Kilbreda Dance Company for the few weeks we did it last year and I cannot wait for it to start again.
  • What is your favourite memory of Easter? My favourite memory of Easter is starting the day at the Dawn Service at Church followed by an Easter egg hunt and brunch with my family where we eat copious amounts of chocolate all day.
  • Who is an inspirational person in your life?  What lessons have they taught you? An inspirational person in my life would be my nana. She is always thinking of others and puts her grandchildren above all else. She was a teacher and whenever we go places and bump into her students, they always thank her for her teaching.
  • What is a moment when you experienced a sense of wonder? A moment when I experienced a sense of wonder would be when I saw the Australian Ballet perform the Nutcracker. I was in awe seeing the graceful dancers turning and leaping around. I was so inspired to continue working hard in my ballet lessons.
  • What is your favourite College value?  Why? The college value that resonates with me the most is Compassion. I am extremely grateful for all the wonderful people and opportunities in my life. I am mindful that not everybody has the same support that I have been blessed.

Caitlyn Singleton

  • Year Level: Year 9
  • Primary School Attended: Patterson Lakes Primary School
  • What is your favourite activity to be involved in at Kilbreda? Why? I love getting involved with 'Techbots' the robotics club. I love problem solving and coding games and programming robots.
  • What is your favourite memory of Easter? My sister always waking me up early in the morning so we can go hunting for eggs
  • Who is an inspirational person in your life?  What lessons have they taught you? My Dad, because he works hard and has high expectations for himself. I also have high expectations and work hard. He has taught me that life is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Which means that if I make a mistake or not do well on time, it won’t matter because then I’ll just pick myself up and continue on and I’ll catch up. It also means that I should not burn myself out by doing really well; I should set a good pace for myself.
  • What is a moment when you experienced a sense of wonder?

When my family and I go for walks in the Dandenongs or go for bike rides in places with beautiful scenery. It makes you wonder why they are so beautiful and it makes you grateful that we have access to places of such beauty and places where nature has hardly been touched by humans.

  • What is your favourite College value?  Why?

Kindliness, because I believe that everyone should be kind to each other and by being kind we are creating an encouraging environment in our community.

Sian Napier

  • Year Level: Year 11
  • Primary School Attended: St Louis De Montfort’s, Aspendale
  • What is your favourite activity to be involved in at Kilbreda? Why? My favourite activity to be involved in at Kilbreda would definitely be the sports days, especially the SCSA and VNA netball tournaments. I love the early morning rush to get on the bus, the nerves that kick in as you arrive at the State Hockey and Netball Centre and see all the other schools arrive at the courts, the hype your teammates give you when you score that goal or take that intercept and spending the day with your friends. It is also an awesome chance to get to know girls in other year levels and even girls from other schools.
  • What is your favourite memory of Easter? I remember when I was a bit younger the days spent at my holiday house with all my cousins over the Easter holidays were for sure my favourite. Waking up on Easter Sunday as early as the parents would let you, lining up with your pillowcases ready to collect as many Easter eggs as you could, running frantically around the house and backyard, searching through every possible cupboard, couch, bed, shelf you could find just to be crowned the kid with the most Easter eggs (and bragging rights until next year!!) And then, every kid’s favourite part … spending the rest of the day eating as much chocolate as your little tummy could take!!
  • Who is an inspirational person in your life?  What lessons have they taught you? My parents are for sure the two most inspirational people in my life. They have taught me many lessons throughout my life but the most significant and important would definitely have to be determination.  No matter how down I’m feeling or how adamant I am to give up, they tell me I’m not a quitter and encourage me to keep going. The determination that my parents have taught me has led me to many successes and for this reason I’m so grateful for their support. Another lesson my parents taught is give yourself a break and realise that it’s also important to treat yourself to a night off without feeling guilty, whether you go out with your friends, or even spend a night binge watching Netflix!
  • What is a moment when you experienced a sense of wonder?

Wonder is celebrating all that is good with joy and gratitude and a moment in my life that resembles Wonder is Christmas Day. To me, Christmas is a day of celebrating together with my family. The feelings of joy and gratitude that come with opening that present you have been wanting all year, or when you take the first bite of the famous Christmas day lunch are just best kind of feelings. Sharing the day with loved ones makes the vibe of the day so much better, whether it’s playing backyard cricket, cracking open the gingerbread house or ‘laughing’ at the jokes from your bon bon!! Christmas is also a day to reflect on and recognise the positive impact others have had on your life by giving back and showing how grateful you truly are.

  • What is your favourite College value?  Why?

My favourite college value is Hope – bringing a sense of purpose. As a young female in this big, wide, world it is often hard to find your purpose, and this can have a huge impact on your everyday life. As a Kilbreda girl we are encouraged to put ourselves out there and explore the world to find our place within it. Yes, hope is about your desires and what you want to achieve, like you hope you ace your exam or you hope you win your netball game, but it’s also hoping that you leave behind a lasting and memorable impact. When Kilbreda girls leave the college and moves onto a much bigger and amazing journey, it is through hope that they wish to leave behind that significant moment that will remembered for years.
