Events for Term 1
Prep Welcome Drinks - Thursday 3rd February at 7.00pm
This Thursday night from 7pm, the school is hosting a social evening for our Prep Parents in the school playground. This evening is a chance for the Prep parents to get to know some of the other families from the Prep cohort. Drinks and nibbles will be provided.
Fete Committee meeting - Thursday 3rd February at 7.30pm
The Fete Committee is meeting at school on Thursday night at 7.30pm. Due to it being an outdoor event, we are expecting the Fete to go ahead on Saturday 19th March.
Year Six Leadership Positions-Speeches and Announcements
Our Year Sixes are busily writing letters of application and speeches for their 2022 leadership roles. Their speeches will be presented to Year 3, 4 and 5 students and staff on Thursday 10th February from 9am in the hall. This is a special occasions for our students, so parents are welcome to come along and watch these speeches. All parents are required to be fully vaccinated and wear masks. The positions will be announced at Assembly on Wednesday 16th February.
Parent Information Night - Alternate format - Tuesday 8th February
At the beginning of each year, we would usually hold an in-person parent information session for each class. Due to the community transmission of covid, we have decided to pre-record these presentations and email these out to parents to view at their own convenience.
Beginning of Year School Mass - Friday 11th February at 9am
We will mark the start of the year with a Beginning of Year School Mass on Friday 11th February at 9am. This is a parish mass, so parents are welcome to attend. We will be spacing our classes out in the church and wearing masks.
PSG Meetings - From Monday 14th February
PSG Meeting will take place from Monday 14th February and those families affected will be contacted directly to set up these meetings. This meeting will be in place of the Parent-Teacher Exchange. An Operoo email has been sent today to the relevant families to make an appointment time.
Parent Teacher Exchanges - Tuesday 15th February
Parent Teacher Interviews will be in February and June. The first “exchanges” are on Tuesday 15th February will be an opportunity for you, as parents, to tell us about your child’s strengths, passions, social competencies and areas to be worked on. For the health and safety of all, these meetings will be held online using Google Meet. Teachers will send individual Google Meet links in the days before. Written reports will be provided prior to the June interviews and at the end of the year.
As mentioned earlier in the Principals Report The website to access the booking is https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/code/qcx5x. The code for the event is: qcx5x. The children will finish school at 1:00pm on this day to allow the staff to commence the interviews at 1:30pm.
SSV Interschool Swimming Training & Carnival - Friday 18th February
We are still waiting for final confirmation that this event is proceeding, but due to it being an outdoor event, we are optimistic.
Parent Helper Course - Tuesday 22nd February
We were hoping to welcome parent helpers into the classroom at the beginning of this year, but we have decided to place this ‘on hold’ for the moment.
School Advisory Council Meeting - Tuesday 22nd February
The first School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting will be held at school on Tuesday 22nd February, commencing at 7.30pm. The SAC is an advisory body who support the Principal and Parish Priest on matters relating to the education of the students at St Agnes'.
Whole School Welcome Picnic - Friday 25th February
Being an outdoor event, the Whole School Welcome Picnic will go ahead. This is a great tradition in our school and one to lock in your calendar. It is a picnic style social event, where families bring along some food, drinks and picnic rug or deck chair. The children have a full run of the playground, while our parents enjoy some social time.
Preps full time - Monday 28th February
Our Prep students will be full time at school from Monday 28th February, as their testing will be complete.
Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday - Tuesday 1st March/Wednesday 2nd March
Ash Wednesday is on Wednesday 2nd March and this year, we will mark the beginning of Lent by coming together for a Whole School Paraliturgy in the Church at 9am. Parents are welcome to join us for this. We will acknowledge Shrove Tuesday the day prior, with the cooking of Pancakes and we will be looking for parents helpers to make this happen. Please contact your Class Rep if you can help out.
Prep Resilience Seminar - Tuesday 1st March
We will be hosting an information night on Resilience for our Prep families. The focus is on how parents can help your child to be resilient young people. It is essential that at least one parent from each family attend, but it would be even better if both parents could be present. The format is to be confirmed.
2022 Open Days
This year we will be holding Open Days from 9.00am to 3.00pm on the following dates:

Our parents and students are our greatest advocates, so I ask all families to continue to spread the good news about our school as we look to grow further this year and into 2023.
School Closure Days
The school will be closed on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th March for the staff to undertake professional development.
Labour Day Public Holiday - Monday 14th March
The school will be closed for the Labour Day Public Holiday.
School Fete - Saturday 19th March
The School Fete is predominantly an outdoor event, so we expect this to go ahead on Saturday 19th March. Please mark this date in your calendar and look out for calls for assistance. As they say, many hands make light work!
School Photos - Tuesday 15th March
School Photos will take place on Tuesday 15th March. Details regarding how families can order photos will be forwarded closer to the date. Children are to wear their full summer uniform on photo day. If Class Sport is scheduled for photo day, the children can bring their runners and change after the photos. Please ensure your child is wearing navy school socks and black leather schools shoes, not black runners.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will take place in Term One for our Year 3 students.

Bike Education Program - Year 3/4
The Bike Education Program is set to go ahead for our Year 3 and 4 students commencing on Tuesday 15th March. Further details will be communicated via Operoo.
Last day of Term One -Friday 8th April
On the final day of Term One, we will have our traditional Easter Bonnet Parade and then acknowledge the events of Holy Week, with an Easter Paraliturgy. We will then move into a whole school activity day, focused on promoting positive relationships with our students. More information will be provided closer to the day.
Students will finish at 1.30pm on this day.
