Languages

Hai, apa kabar semuanya.      みなさん こんにちは。

We've had a great start to the year with students progressing well in their language studies.  To continue this momentum, the Languages team encourage all learners to keep up with their studies outside of class time.  Languages is like any other skill and the more you use it, the more you’ll improve in it.  If you spend 5 – 10 minutes every few days using online flashcards, language games or simply going over your new words in your head can be of great benefit.

Upcoming Language Events

The Education Perfect Languages Championships are just around the corner! Being our largest Language competition, this is a great opportunity for students to learn and revise curriculum aligned content and celebrate languages in a fun and engaging way. Plus, entry is free for all students and schools!

Championships begin 8th March 6pm NZDT / 4pm AEDT, and end 15th March 6pm NZDT / 4pm AEDT.

Cultural Events

Valentine’s Day in Japan is celebrated a little differently to what we do in Australia.  We followed the tradition this year in our VCE Japanese class and many of us are looking forward to March 14th.

The Japanese Hina Matsuri (Doll’s Festival) is an annual event held on March 3rd where families display dolls in their home and make offerings in the hope of happiness and health for the daughters of the family.
