Kindergarten News

Marram:

The Marram class had an incredibly settled week! There was a lot of calm and engaged play, with the children curiously exploring the construction and art areas, as well as enjoying many moments connecting with each other and the Teachers in reading, games and song.

They adored the addition of the water pump in the trickle stream and busily cooked many 'tasty' dishes in the outdoor home corner and pretend play area.

We are looking forward to a fantastic week ahead with everyone.

Budja:

What  a busy week we had in our Budja class this week!

From exploring the water with the new electric pump in the trickle stream to some incredible collaborative construction with lego and the Marble run!

We began to engage some inquiry learning with the class, discussing concepts of aquatic creatures and then the concept of kindness. Using the knowledge and understandings that the children have already, we are able to create space for the children to share and learn from one another, then guide the discussions into learning that embedded into our play and exploration.

This week we will continue to inquire into kindness and personal responsibility, as we create some common understandings around how we engage within our kindergarten classroom.

Gawarn:

What a very busy week! We continued with our celebrations of Chinese New Year with some ‘fire cracker painting’. This has afforded the children to gain an understanding of similarities and differences in celebrations.

It was amazing to see some of the children embrace some of our more challenging puzzles. The perseverance, confidence and problem solving was wonderful to observe. Likewise with our mosaic blocks – some demonstrating individualistic patterns and others demonstrating great ability to actively listen to mirror designs.

The children are thoroughly loving our outdoors. The imaginative and collaborative play emerging is delightful. They have also utilised the space to create some obstacle courses and engage in some ball games. Great turn taking, concentration and – loads of fun!

Have a fantastic week.

Wimbi and Dharug:

Our Wimbi and Dharug groups have been very busy. Exploration of their new environment and concepts of routine is enabling them to begin to understand patterns and sequencing of their day.

The trickle stream is immensely popular. With added sea creatures we have been discussing the variety of sea animals which has led to us to singing Old McDonald had an ocean! We had a look at some books about the sea / beach and Dharug group made some ‘surprise wave paintings’. This was achieved by using candles to create the waves and dye to depict the ocean. Wimbi group will get the opportunity to explore this during this week’s session.

There has been a great interest in ‘pizza making’ as well as ‘buying ice-creams’ as we also discussed summer days. Dumpling making with the play dough, felt stories, puzzles, lovely quiet reading moments and dinosaurs have kept us very busy as has some dancing and hand action songs.

Have a fabulous week!
