Term 1 Week 5

Feature News - Performing Arts

Term 1 is already buzzing with music, dance and singing clubs that students have the opportunity to be apart of.  MPRPS is very lucky to have so many talented Teachers and Support staff to teach, inspire and extend the students knowledge and abilities in The Arts.  Below is a list of all the extra curricular Performing Arts groups that students can be apart of;

In Performing Arts lessons the students are busy building knowledge and skills in music. The Foundation students have been busy playing song games such as the 'Turtle game' and 'The Three Bears'.  These games are designed to build an understanding of the music elements 'Dynamics' and 'Pitch' (and are also a lot fun, resulting in lots of giggles from the class). The Year 1/2 students are exploring 3/4 time in music through moving and playing instruments on a beat. The Year 3/4 students have begun a music unit with an artistic twist.  Students will begin composing music to match famous art pieces bringing them to life with sound. The Year 5/6 students have begun an intriguing music history unit based off the works of Igor Stravinksky and the infamous ballet 'The Rite of Spring'.

Mount Pleasant's Got Talent -  Wednesday 22nd June

At the beginning of Term 2, along with a panel of teachers I will start auditioning for Mount Pleasant's Got Talent.  Students have the opportunity to share their talents and skills whether it be singing, dancing, playing an instrument, telling jokes, magic tricks and more. A short list of Junior and Senior finalists will be announced prior to big day.   The finalists will then perform in front of the school and judging panel to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.  All in all it is fun school and community event that all students can be apart of whether performing or as an audience member.  Students should start planning their acts now as with the talent we have a MPRPS it's going to be a tough competition.
