Student & Parent Notices

Vaccinations

COVID-19 third-dose vaccinations are now available to 16–17 year olds who had their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine three or more months ago.

Supporting as many eligible students as we can to be vaccinated will help make our school as safe as possible.

Getting vaccinated is one of the most important steps we can all take to get direct protection against COVID-19.

How to book an appointment

There are many convenient options to access vaccinations. These include statewide vaccination clinics, and your local GP or pharmacy.

You can book your appointment in a few different ways, including:

Parent Reminders

It’s great to have our students back at school. They certainly seem very happy to be back amongst their friends.

The last two years have seen many of us fall out of what we considered our normal routine. Some students are finding it difficult to adjust back so it’s important that the message from home and school is consistent.

Just a couple of important reminders that we would like parents to help us with.

Have you seen the new school diary?

In 2022 the College is working with The Resilience Project in an attempt to better identify and support students in need of help and to provide access to information that will help the emotional and social development of all of our students.

As part of the College’s approach in addressing two years of disjointed schooling, we are looking at a way of helping students

  • get back into a ‘normal’ routine
  • who are struggling with issues stemming from dislocation, social interaction and mental health.
  • understand the importance of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness in their daily life

The 2022 student planner has been re-designed in incorporate resource and reference materials that can be helpful not only to the student but to teachers working with groups. Resource material is graduated from Year 7 through to the Senior Years.

In addition to this, Coordinators will attend seminars and webinars with members of the team at the Resilience Project as part of professional learning. Guest speakers will also to presenting to students when it is again safe to do so.

Bike Safety

Please ensure that if your student rides to school that they have a bike helmet, and more importantly, wear that helmet correctly. Unfortunately, traffic accidents do happen each year and we don’t want any of our students suffering from serious injuries. Please make sure that you check that they are wearing a helmet correctly as they head off to school in the morning.

One student has reported that they have received a hefty fine after being spotted riding without a helmet by Police.

Face Masks

The Victorian Government rules are very clear about the wearing of face masks whilst indoors and on Public Transport. It seems some of our students are not wearing face masks on the train in the morning as we are receiving numerous complaints from other passengers. This is an unsafe practice for everyone and people are very concerned. Please make sure that your student takes a face mask with them each day and remind them to wear it.

At school students are reminded about face masks every lesson so it’s important the same message is coming from home.

Absentees

Parents it would be appreciated if ALL parents could submit an Absentee Notification by either:

Voicemails or Emails by 8:30am.

NOTE:  Parents to please include the following four things:

  1. Name
  2. Year Level
  3. Reason
  4. Date Expected Back

After school activities

Our school uniform is very recognisable and students gathering in groups in parks and local shopping centres does raise public attention, especially in cases where students are engaging in poor behaviour. Our expectation of every St Bede’s College student is that they go directly home after school, get changed and discuss with their parents any activities they are engaging in before they head out.

By working on the little things together we can hopefully prevent big problems from happening.

Like you, we want our students to be safe and happy.
