Principal's Report

Thank you to those parents who have notified the school of positive cases. It is important to inform us and then enter in the details on the Covid Test Portal.  Continue doing your RATs over the next fortnight and we will await further information about how the rest of term looks.  Even if your child does test negative but has some symptoms, please keep them home until they are better.

Privacy

Our school collects, uses, discloses and stores student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ Privacy Policy

Please take time to remind yourself of the school’s collection statement, found on our website http://www.langwarrinps.vic.edu.au

For more information about privacy, see: Schools’ Privacy Policy – information for parents. This information is also available in nine community languages

Personal Property

Principals have been requested by DET to remind staff members, students and parents/guardians that “personal property brought onto school premises is done so with the knowledge that DET insurances will not cover any loss or damage to such property, therefore staff members, students, parents/guardians are discouraged from bringing unnecessary or particular valuable items to school.” We request students do not bring expensive items and toys to school to use during their breaks. We cannot guarantee these items will not be damaged or lost. We also encourage our students to play active and imaginative games with their peers during their recess breaks. Schools are reminded that the Department does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students. Parents and guardians of students, who do not have student accident insurance/ambulance cover, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance or transport as well as any other transport costs.

Personal Education Plans

School Council Nominations

It is that time again when we are calling for school council members. There are 3 parent positions available. If I receive more than 3 nominations for parent members then I need to call a ballot.  In that case I will communicate this with you all and how you can cast your vote.  In the meantime, if you would like to either nominate yourself or nominate someone else, please come into the office and collect a nomination form.

We usually have 2 school council meetings per term on Wednesday evenings starting at 6.30pm.

School councils have three main responsibilities:

  • Finance: overseeing the development of the school’s annual budget and ensuring proper records are kept of the school’s financial operation
  • Strategic planning: participating in the development and monitoring of the school strategic plan
  • Policy development and review: developing, reviewing and updating policies that reflect our school values and support the school’s broad direction outlined in its strategic plan.

School Council members are also on one sub-committee held on the same evening as School Council.

Uniform

Again, I have been very pleased with how everyone is presenting in full school uniform.  Our uniform looks very smart (as it is mostly red and black).  Please remember that only red, black or white shoes are part of the uniform and black or white socks.

Assemblies

Please note that school assemblies are understandably not being held at present due to the current rates of COVID-19 infections amongst students. We hope we may be in a position later this term to begin to reinstate assemblies outside (or in the LPAC) so that parents can also attend. Please continue to track the newsletter for updates on this matter

Medical and other information

Please notify the office of any changes to your child’s details or circumstances. This includes medical plans such as asthma and anaphylaxis, diabetes among others.

Changes of phone number, address and emergency contacts need to be reported to the office immediately.

Medication

All medication coming to school must be clearly labelled and full instructions included.  Medication must be dropped at the office.

Have a great week,

Mark Moorhouse
