Middle School

From the Head of Middle School

This week we were all concerned about the fire at Denmark and the devastating effect it has had on people, animals and the environment. The Middle School leaders started a conversation by email over the weekend with concern in particular for GSG families who have been affected. After several emails they have come up with a plan to support families by baking biscuits to sell to students.

The proceeds will go towards replacement of school items that have been lost in the fire. Of course there is also the mental toll of losing items and the stories that we hear. Our teachers have been listening to stories, discussing the impacts and ensuring that we listen and provide sound advice. Healthy conversations have taken place and we will continue to support our Denmark families.

On Monday we held our Middle School Leaders' Induction assembly. Eleven new leaders were commissioned into their roles and presented with their leadership badges. Thank you to the parents who were able to come along and take part in the ceremony. As part of the ceremony students had to respond to Mr Sawle’s questions with the following response.

“I accept the office of Student Leader and agree to fulfil my obligations to the best of my ability. I will uphold the values and traditions of Great Southern Grammar with honesty and integrity.”

Congratulations to the students listed below. We wish them well in their new role and I look forward to seeing what each individual can bring to the Middle School.
