Senior School

From the Head of Senior School

While aspects of our school experience have been scaled back this week, the spirit is as strong as ever in Senior School.  The crowd size may have been smaller than usual for the Leaders’ Induction assembly but the Year Twelve cohort showed great heart as they received their badges and appreciated the VET class’ musical performance and video from the Junior School.

Our Year Eleven students have been particularly positive about the start to the year and this has not gone unnoticed by their teachers; I am hearing reports of enthusiasm and engagement in classrooms and homework being completed early.  Being able to offer so many pathways and tailor-made programs allows the students to enjoy every lesson on their timetable and they love it.

Year Ten students showed impressive maturity when told of the postponement of Outward Bound and the Leeuwin Voyages this week. They asked several sensible questions and shared disappointed looks; their worldliness and awareness of factors bigger than we can control was quite something to witness.

As we navigate our way through this shifting landscape, we will continue to support the students as they deal with change and disappointment, and nurture their amazing spirit and ability to look after each other.
