Denmark Fires
Our thoughts go out to our Denmark families and the community, who have been affected by the recent fires. The images from the fires showed the devastation that has destroyed homes and natural vegetation. Many GSG families, staff and students have rallied to assist in supporting the families.
COVID update
The School continues to receive and communicate regular updates on the changing COVID situation. The COVID Safety Plan, information and communication updates can be found on MyGSG under the 'Covid-19 Updates' tab. Thank you once again for your support with these changes.
Student Leaders' Induction Ceremonies
The Leaders' Induction Ceremonies were spread over three different assemblies. This approach did not dampen the enthusiasm of those involved. Years Six, Nine and Twelve Leaders recited the oath to take up the challenge to lead and serve the School. We wish our new Leaders well for 2022.
At the Senior School assembly, Max Fleming was announced as the 2021 Dux after receiving an ATAR of 99.85. Proxime Accessit was Camryn Morris with 98.80. Max, who has been enrolled at GSG since Kindergarten, thanked his teachers and his holistic education experience at GSG. Max provided our current Year Twelve students with three valuable pieces of advice:
- Resolutely pursue your passion
- Seek out challenges
- Learn from everything
Since the assembly, Max has travelled to Canberra to take up a scholarship to study Physics at the Australian National University. His speech is available on MyGSG.
Parents' and Friends' Committee
The P&F Management Committee and Year Representatives met on Sunday off-campus to discuss the upcoming year. President, Mr Jim Darmody led the proceedings with input from Year Representatives. Jim highlighted the purpose of the P&F in connecting families together. Given the current direction of the WA Government to encourage year group gathering, the P&F structure is ideally set up to enhance this change. The energy and enthusiasm from these parents will be utilised throughout the year. Below is the P&F structure and personnel.
