Principal's News

Week 4

Welcome everyone to our week four newsletter. The staff and children are getting into learning routines. We have some exciting events coming up. On Thursday 3rd March we have Big Kids, Little Kids. This will be the first time in a long time that we will have a lot of families in the school for an event. It is designed as a fun evening and an opportunity for all families to meet the teachers. There will be a BBQ ready at 5 pm. You will have received a notice on Operoo about Big Kids Little Kids.

Covid                                                                                                                                                                  All schools, including us, now have to keep up with the RAT tests until the end of term 1. This means that all staff and children need to keep testing twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays until Thursday 7th April. Every few weeks, we will send home new RAT test kits. If anyone is having difficulties administering the tests, please let us know, and we can then find a solution. We do not want the tests to be traumatising for the children.

We have received several boxes of face masks, so if children come to school without them, we have plenty here to give them.

Challenging Learning

We have our curriculum day with Challenging Learning this Friday, 25th February. Please let the school know if there will be no one at home to look after your children and they will be able to come to school. Last week, the school leadership met the Challenging Learning facilitator to discuss what will happen over 2022 with professional development.

We decided to reschedule the second day and have it in the second term. This means that there will not be a curriculum day on Friday 25th March.

Our Patch

Our before and after school care is up and running. The children met the Our Patch teacher today when she visited their classrooms. Some families have had trouble filling out the sign-up forms for Our Patch. Shortly we will be providing opportunities for assistance to complete the forms with Our Patch staff. When this is finalised, we will send the information home.

Father Michael                                                                                                                                        This week, we farewell Father Michael. He has only been with us for around four years, and everyone will miss him. Father Michael’s interaction with the Holy Family children has been outstanding. I am sure that the people of Colombo will benefit significantly from his ministry there.
