Tips on Starting Secondary College

Facilities

Brief summary of recent works

  • Junior School locker bay: The new locker bay is moving along at a rapid pace. The riggers have installed the steel and the carpenters are putting in stud walls for cladding. By the start of next year all Junior Students will have their lockers in the Junior School area.
  • Middle School Coordinators’ office and Timetable office: Carpenters are currently installing stud walls. On Wednesday the electricians arrive and by the start of 2022 we hope to have most of the works complete.
  • Indigenous Garden: The area is getting a make-over with an improved pathway through the displays, mulching and granitic sand at the East entrance.
  • Oval Sails and tiers: It’s been a big project but finally all of the oval tiers are replaced and the new shade sails installed. The area is vastly improved and provides much needed shade for the school community.
  • Lockers: All students in Years 9-12 will have new lockers next year.

Finally, a big thankyou to the Facilities Committee for all their support throughout the year and to the facilities team at school for all their hard work and diligence.

Have a wonderful Christmas break.

MHPS News

MHPs and school staff are not able to support students over the holiday period, so it is important that students know what supports they have access to and how to access them.

DET’s Mental health supports for students over school holidays site includes information, resources and advice for students and families to access over the school holidays. Two fact sheets for students and families have been developed in 19 different languages to:

  • support positive mental health and wellbeing of students
  • identify signs students may need mental health support
  • access available support.

It is recommended that these resources are shared with the school community, along with contact information for local mental health services.

Job Opportunities

There are job opportunities available at the Australian Open in January with Delaware North. We have food and beverage attendant positioned available that are perfect for student 15 years and over. This is a great opportunity for students to get their start in the hospitality industry.
