Principal's Message
Linda Buckeridge: Principal
Welcome to 2022!
It is with great pleasure that I say once again what a wonderful start we have had to the term and how lucky I am to be Principal of this school.
The calm return to the classrooms has been significantly assisted by the strong organisation and preparation by staff, students and families, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone for your contribution in ensuring our students have had the best possible start to 2022.
STAFFING UPDATES
Late last year and through the holidays we had final staffing changes and updates for the start of 2022. We said farewell at the last minute to Mr Michael Davies, with Ms Stephanie Flannery stepping in for the first few weeks of the year to teach 6E. We are currently in the final appointment stages for both the part time teacher of 2B and teacher of 6E, with updates soon to be shared with the community.
At the very end of last year we appointed two staff to wellbeing based positions. We welcome Todd Caldwell (Youth Connections Worker) and Rana Davidson (Small Group Wellbeing) to our team for 2022 and beyond. Both Rana and Todd come with a wealth of experience to support students to engage within the classroom and reach their full potential with their learning. If you would like to talk to either Todd or Rana, please speak to the classroom teacher or an Assistant Principal first and they will assist you in finding the right avenue, contact and/or solution.
SCHOOL CONTACT/LEADERSHIP ROLE CHANGES FOR 2022
If you require supports with wellbeing and/or other matters, please always start with the classroom teacher. They are your first and most important contact. After this, you can contact your allocated Assistant Principal, who will ascertain your needs and support you with the right referrals and/or actions.
Our two Assistant Principals are responsible for the following year levels:
Paul Hill will also oversee all students across the school on the Program for Students with Disability (PSD) and those in Out of Home Care.
COVID-19
Thank you to our families for your ongoing communication and updates in relation to COVID-19. We will continue to keep you informed of positive cases that have been onsite and we will continue to distribute Rapid Antigen Tests throughout the week.
HATS and SCHOOL UNIFORM
Here at Hillsmeade we take great pride in our school and our surroundings. As a part of building this pride and identity, wearing correct school uniform and the correct school hat is very important. Please ensure your child/children have the correct school uniform as advised in our uniform policy and outlined on our website. I have noticed varying hats and jumpers in particular and encourage you to seek out the correct items of uniform for your child. If you require financial assistance for uniform please do not hesitate to contact the office and we can assist you in sourcing items.
In the coming weeks, we will be focusing on the wearing of correct HPS school uniform. We also have quite a lot of lost property in the office - if you are missing anything, don't hesitate to drop by and sift through the mountains of clothing and hats!
