Welcome to Term 1 2022

What a great first week we have had. It has been lovely to reconnect with our students and families after the holidays and to welcome our new families and students to our school community. I am amazed at how quickly the students have settled back into their school routines. After completing school readiness meetings earlier this week, our Kinder students started their first formal day of school on Thursday. They should all be congratulated on their resilience in ensuring an incredibly smooth start to the day.

Peer Support Training

All our Year 6 students were involved in a full day of Peer Support training on Friday 4 February. The Year 6 teachers did an amazing job in coaching our Year 6 students to be aware of their leadership role as leaders of the Primary School. Throughout the day, students worked collaboratively in teams to unpack the roles and responsibilities of being a leader. This year, students will be given lots of opportunities to practice and finetune when teaching Primary students during peer support. We look forward to seeing them develop into these roles.

2021 ICAS Results

Students who participated in last year’s ICAS competitions, will receive their certificate/s at one of the upcoming stage assemblies. Furthermore, we would like to congratulate the students listed below for placing in the top 11% of Australia, when compared to their peers. You should be very proud of this achievement.

In the next 5 weeks, we will resume the process for drop-off and pick-up of Primary students which was in place last year. Attached below is a map of the Primary carpark to assist parents. Any family arriving before 2:55 pm is asked to park their car in the designed bays (C or D reverse parking only) to ensure optimum flow.

Pick-Up Process

Parents have two options to collect their child/ren at the end of the day.

Park the car and physically collect your child from the parent pick-up area.
Use the Drive-Thru pick-up zone (parent remains in car).

Option 1 - Physical collection from the Parent pick-up area

Park your car in the designated Bays (C or D) and walk over to the parent pick-up area. A staff member will be stationed at the pick-up area gate to assist in the collection of your child. Once collected, parents can walk their child/ren to their parked car via the safety crossing.

Option 2 - Drive Thru pick-up zone

Please follow the directional arrows located on the map, which will take you past the drop-off zone and queue up for collection. Parents who arrive early and are parked in Bay C or D have two options when they see their child/ren enter the student waiting area.

To ensure students’ safety, under NO circumstance will children be allowed to cross from the student waiting area to cars parked in Bay C or D.

To assist the flow in the Drive Thru pick-up zone, all families will be provided with a family name sign which we ask families to display in the front window. These signs will be handed out to the eldest sibling as soon as possible.

Academic Co-Curricular Program

We are pleased to announce that we are extending our Co-Curricular program by adding English and Mathematics support and extension programs. Selected students will be invited to attend these lunchtime sessions which will run on different days throughout the week. By running these sessions during lunchtime, all students are able to be considered. There is no additional cost to our families for our Co-Curricular program. This program will replace our current Before School program. More information will be shared with our families in the near future.

Parent Volunteers

Parents who would like to be involved in volunteering at the school, are required to complete the 4 steps below:

Obtain a Working With Children Check (WWCC). The WWCC is a requirement for anyone who works or volunteers in child-related work in NSW. It involves a National Police Check (criminal history record check) and a review of reportable workplace misconduct. The Check is FREE for volunteers and the link below provides further information on how to obtain a WWCC online.

Read and sign the Moama Anglican Grammar’s ‘Volunteer Agreement’, which includes your WWCC number and Date of Birth, and hand this form to the Primary Office. Parents can contact the Primary office for a copy to be emailed.
Hand in a copy of your vaccination status.
Attend one of our Parent Volunteer inductions. The first two sessions are scheduled for Thursday 17 February at 3:15pm and Friday 18 February at 8:50am. Further sessions will be advertised. Please contact the PS reception to book your spot. During this session we will discuss the Child Protection Advice and Code of Conduct for Volunteers.

Once parents have completed the steps above, they are able to commence volunteer duties. We look forward to continue to develop parent volunteer opportunities at our school.

Allied Health Professionals

Our school regularly receives request for Allied Health Professionals, such as Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists, to visit our school to work with students who have NDIS funding. We continue to welcome these professionals to our School. Parents who would like to take up this opportunity are asked to liaise visits with Mel Scott by email mscott@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au

New Student Photographs

MSP photography is visiting the school on Monday 7 February to take images of all our new students and staff. These images are for internal use.

Annual Consent Form

The annual consent e-form has been shared with families last Friday. We ask that you complete this e-form promptly to ensure the School’s database is up to date with current information. Please note that the annual consent form includes a variety of areas including; carnivals, PCR contact, IT agreement etc. If you have any questions about this form, please contact the Primary office who will be able to direct your question to the relevant staff member.

Classrooms will open at 8:30am each morning. Students are required to be at school by 8:45am for the start of the day. Parents that would like to meet with their child’s teacher are required to organise a suitable meeting time. Due to class and students’ commitments before school, teachers are unavailable to meet with parents unless previously arranged. For any urgent issues, please see myself or Mel Scott in the Primary School administration office.

To support possible future families who are currently considering their child’s education and would like to find out more about our school, we are offering a free Zoom information session on Tuesday 8 March. There will be a session in the morning at 10:30am and one at 7:30pm. Each session will run for 30 minutes. Topics which will be discussed include; curriculum opportunities, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs, student wellbeing, enrolment process, fees, key dates and other general information.

In addition, the School will be present at the Echuca Moama Market Sound Shell Gardens in Moama on; Sunday 13 February, Sunday 27 February and Sunday 27 March. Our School leaders will be involved in running student activities and we look forward to connecting with you at the market.
