Extra Curricular Activities

School Clubs

Below are some of the recess and lunch time clubs that are held at the school each week. All students are welcome to attend any of the activities. If you have any questions please contact the appropriate Club Coordinator(s).

Art Club News

Our Art Club students worked on colourful chalk Mandelas this week. Prior to their work, they spent time designing and investigating other artists designs. They have incorporated elements and principles of pattern, shape, space and line. The feedback on their work has been overwhelming positive, and has brightened up the area of the school near the art rooms.

Chess News

The year 7-8 Chess tournament came to a conclusion on Thursday. Mitchell Noller was crowned champion after two competitive games against Lockie Groves. Their first thrilling match was a draw, with Mitchell pulling off a close win in their second game. Well done to both students!

Chess Club is on every school day at both recess and lunch time in the library. Experienced and non experienced players are welcome to join. New tournaments start

New Clubs

Two new clubs have been added to our activities list: Drama Club and Dungeons and Dragons.

Drama Club

Students who are interested in the performing arts are more than welcome to join Drama Club, which is held on Mondays at Recess in the Performing Arts Room.  We have some fun things planned for this term and beyond! Students can build their confidence, improve their concentration and develop their creativity - just a few of the benefits of joining Drama Club. If you have any questions please contact Mr Bergshoeff.

D&D Club

The Dungeons & Dragons Club is for students interested in playing tabletop role-playing games. Students will improve their listening skills, practice problem solving and learn how to cooperate with others.  They can enjoy the creative experience of collaboratively telling stories, building worlds, having in-depth philosophical discussions and meeting new friends. Come along on Mondays at lunchtime in the library. Please see Miss Plane or Miss Titcombe for more information.

Eleven88 Dance Program

Eleven88 are running a dance program (with various styles such as hip-hop, contemporary and jazz), that gives young people an opportunity to explore and develop their passion for dance in the context of a safe and supportive environment. This program allows students to discover and expand their potential, create confidence, self-worth, and resilience, as well as build and maintain positive relationships. All are welcome! The program starts on Friday 4th March and will occur every Friday after school in the gym from 3:30-4:30pm.

State Schools Spectacular

The annual Victorian State Schools Spectacular program is an invaluable performing arts opportunity for our students.

The program showcases and unites school communities through working towards a common goal of more students reaching the highest level of achievement in the arts, ensuring kids are happy, healthy and resilient, and building pride in our school.

The Spectacular has become an invaluable rite of passage for Victoria’s top young talent, as well students of all abilities, and a cherished, memorable education experience for all participants.

This year Pakenham SC has 13 students participating in the mass dance performance, with rehearsals beginning in two weeks.

Look out for updates as we progress our dancing skills over the next 6 months, culminating in the televised performance in September.
