Year 9 Captains Report

Welcome to Term 4, we hope the Year 9s  had a good holiday and are ready to get back to school.  There are plenty of activities and events coming up this term; Year 9 Tasmania camp and the October Arts Festival.

Recently there has been some sporting activities happening like; the Regional Athletics Day and some students participating in the Melbourne Marathon.

Coming up on Monday 12 November, the Year 9 Tasmania camp is happening.  Students will either take the boat there and the plane back or the other way around.  

This week the Year 9s had to pick who they are going to be in cabins with on the Spirit Of Tasmania.  We will be visiting Cataract Gorge, Port Arthur, Port Arthur Ghost Tour, Tahune Airwalk, Mt Wellington, caves and the Wildlife Park. we will also get the chance to develop personal and interpersonal skills.

On Wednesday 10 October,  the Year 9 students from both the Next Generation Design classes went to Healesville Sanctuary. We went to the sanctuary to look at improving the lives and experiences of the animals and visitors. We were also looking at enrichments for the animals. The animals that we pinpointed to help were, echidnas, dingos and Tasmanian Devils. In our breaks, we had the opportunity to look around the sanctuary and at lunch, watched the spirits of the sky bird show. It was really cool.

The October Arts Festival opened for entries on Monday 15 October and will be running until the end of October.  It is being held in the PAC at lunchtimes for anyone who would like to go down and vote for their favourite artworks.  So come down and check out the amazing artwork from across all year levels and make sure to put in your vote for your favourite piece.

On Sunday 14 October, Mr Neumann and five  LHS students went in  the 10 km Melbourne Marathon Festival. The day started at 7:30 am and finished at 9:30 am. The day was very busy and a lot of people participated. It was a great challenge and it was great to run around the MCG. The environment was fun and energised.

OH WHAT A NIGHT!

On Friday 12 October, students and staff had a wonderful time at this year's Year 10 Formal at Linley Estate.

Students NOT returning to LHS in 2019

Please NOTIFY the Middle School Coordinators Office as soon as possible, if your son/daughter is NOT RETURNING to Lilydale High School in 2019 to complete Year 10  or Year 11.   

We need to know if your child will be undertaking one of the following;

• Transferring to another school
• TAFE (Institute/Course)
• Apprenticeship/Traineeship
• Full Time /Part Time Employment
• Seeking Employment
• Other reason

Before a student can leave school, they must satisfactorily complete Year 10 and until the age of 17, they must be in some form of full time training or employment. Training options can include; VCE, VCAL, full time TAFE and Apprenticeships. 

Any students wishing to leave school before these requirements are met, must put in a request for exemption to the Regional Director in consultation with Lilydale High School.

If you son/daughter is not returning in 2019, an Exit Form (available from the General Office) will be required to be completed and returned to the General Office by Friday 14 December.
