Library NEWS

The weather is cold and the Library is heating up.  The Library is usually open at lunchtime, but in this cold weather, we have been additionally opening at recess some days to give students a warm and dry location to “chill out”.

A couple of our Library displays are now reflecting the change in weather.  “Chill out with a good book” and “Warm up with a hot read”, promoting some of our novels.

The Library was OPEN for the school community on the schools 100th Anniversary OPEN DAY, Saturday May 18.  There were a number of displays for visitors to look at, as well as the school magazine “Salamander” from 1949 through to 2018.  Many visitors enjoyed looking for photos of themselves, old friends and teachers in the school magazines from their time at Lilydale High School.

LIBRARY FUN AT RECESS

Premiers' Reading Challenge

Our Year 7 students have continued to steam ahead with the Premiers’ Reading Challenge and Lilydale High School Reading Challenge.  Three of our Year 7 classes have already read over 400 books and collectively, our participants have read over 4000 books.

91 students (70 Year 7s, and 21 Years 8-10s) have already achieved the Premiers’ Reading Challenge, by reading 15+ books.

A further 43 students have achieved the Lilydale High School Reading Challenge by reading 10+ books.

This is a great effort so far this year.  A display of colourful bookshelves, show how each class is progressing in the reading challenges.

All students from Years 8-12 are invited to participate in the reading challenges.  Students can register at the Library.
