VCE Arts Camp

From Wednesday 15 to Friday 17 May,  81  VCE Arts students had the pleasure of attending the 2019  VCE Arts Camp.  Within this camp, students from Art, Drama, Theatre Studies, Music Performance, Studio Arts Photography and Visual Communication Design  participated in various activities to trigger their creative abilities.

Studio Arts Photography students, took advantage of the beachside campus as they captured magnificent photographs of the sunset and passing boats. They continued to enjoy the beach whilst they were involved in a breathtaking night photography session, where they captured photographs of burning steal wool and other light sources, moving in the air creating shapes and lines.

Art students were involved in an eyeopening life drawing session on Day 2, where they had the ability to experiment with charcoal and pastel mediums.

The Visual Communication Design students, had the enjoyment of engaging in multiple design workshops, involving the use of Photoshop and Illustrator.

On the final night of the camp, Visual Art students entered their artworks from throughout the year,  in an exhibition held in the Main Hall, for teachers, Visual Arts and Performing Arts students to view.

2019 Arts Camp took place over May 15 to 17 and was a chance for both Performing and Visual Arts students to work on their upcoming assignments.

The VCE Theatre Studies students, spent the few days doing various workshops on different theatre styles and script writing, to broaden their horizons, as to what is involved in playmaking.

VCE Drama students, all worked hard on developing their ensemble performances, based on their prompt, #NOFILTER, focussing on Snapchat, Dysmorphia and unrealistic beauty standards in our modern society.

The Year 11  Music students, spent their time preparing their songs for the upcoming group performance SAC, whilst the Year 12 Music students, continued to work towards their end of year 'Performance Exam' - rehearsing new pieces and refining their set list, to show the very best performances they can.

Overall, it was a highly enjoyable and productive camp with Performing Arts students across Units 1/2 and 3/4 being able to develop their understanding and continue to engage, challenge and explore their respective subjects and perform a very high-quality showcase at the end of the camp.

Scattered Lives

On Tuesday May 28, the Coalface Theatre Company performed the VCAA playlist performance, Scattered Lives for our Year 9 to  12 Drama and Theatre Studies students.

The play explored real-life stories of people seeking refuge in Australia, along with the themes of loss and identity, and was a great opportunity for our students to see and hear these in a live theatre environment.

Students will be completing performance evaluations and analyses in class as part of their course curriculum.

#NOFILTER - VCE Drama Ensemble Performances

On Thursday 30 May, VCE Drama students presented their Ensembles to parents and friends, as part of their Unit 1 and Unit 3 assessment.

The students have worked very hard over the last 10 weeks to devise their performances and should all be very proud of their efforts.

Congratulations!
