ADP visit to VSSEC

Students studying Science from the Year 10 Athlete Development Program (ADP), travelled into and out of the city to visit the Victorian Science Space Education Centre (VSSEC) situated at Strathmore.

It was a gloomy day but our spirits lifted, when we met our destination and were transported another world.

The students were going to conduct scientific tests to see if they and others, could be FIT enough to travel to space! They used clinix sticks to test urine samples, microscopes to look at blood samples, make blood slides and analyse white blood cells.

After a short break, students looked at the type radiation found in space and the cutting edge methods/materials being used to keep our astronauts safe in the International Space Centre (ISS).

After lunch, students checked their own vital signs of body fat, heart rate, blood pressure to see if they would be able to make it into space and join astronauts on ISS.

The students were amazing!  Thank you to Miss Van Bakel and our preservice teacher, Miss Gustafson for their time and input on the day.

You did not disappoint VSSEC, we will be back!
