FISHER CAMP

Hindmarsh Island

During Week 1 and 2 of this term all Fisher classes attended a camp at Hindmarsh Island. We would like to thank the parent helpers for volunteering their time to assist and support staff and students on camp.

We would like to acknowledge the excellent behaviour of students who demonstrated persistence, resilience, confidence, organisation and getting along skills as they participated through the various organised activities.

Parent feedback

It was pleasing to receive feedback about the camp experience from a parent's perspective.

The following was written by parent helper Helen Carroll-Welsh

Hi Fisher 14 and 15!

I wanted to thank you all for being so good on camp.  I was impressed with everyone's manners and certain individuals for their willingness to help others without a fuss.

Thank you for your cards and chocolate, lovely!

The best part about camp is the making of memories and I have many fond ones . . .

  • Watching the glee on all the faces of the boogie boarders and Ruby and Stanisa catching great waves. Kelly leaving the surf with only one aqua thong.  Watching Maggie almost turning blue afterwards from the cold and still smiling!
  • The very creative raft designs with Charli being the first brave one to venture into the river and Connor's gallant effort to swim out and rescue a paddle that was drifting away while it's owners just looked on, not willing to abandon ship.
  • Playing Dodgeball and watching Athan jump up and down continuously like a Jack-in-the-Box.  The look on Daniel's face when I caught one he rocketed in and Mr J cheating from behind the scenes.
  • Walking around with the group of girls in the first game of Sardines where every shadow movement looked like a person.
  • The awesome shelters, especially Stella, Molly, Frandy and Alicia's who also had to fend off thieves from the "Mouldy Pizza" shelter group.  Not forgetting the "100% rainproof" one down the hill!
  • Jett singing very loudly (and badly) to 'See You Again' on the bus.
  • Robbie's perseverance at the Water Ecology and Thomas thinking he saw a frog but it just turned out to be a wrapper (and not a Freddo wrapper) and of course the appearance of Tony, the pelican.
  • The world's most hypo fishing group who spent longer finding crabs, racing maggots, chasing each other with them and Jett the only one to catch anything- his own bait that fell off his hook!
  • Watching Mitchell and Daniel master the Frisbee marks-up game!
  • Seeing so many kids making their own fun during breaks

. . . and all the other moments in between.

Please thank your wonderful teachers for giving you the opportunity to make your own great memories!

Thanks again

Helen

Thank you so much Helen for your thoughtful reflection - it was wonderful to have you on camp with us and we are grateful to you for taking the time away from your family and work.
