Reconnecting with Past Pupils

On Friday 15 November, I had the pleasure of accompanying English visitors, Rosina Darnell (née Sanford) and her daughter Lucy, on a tour of Kilbreda.

Rosina had started here in Prep in 1964, taught by Mrs Delgos, and continued through until Grade 5, in 1969. Remarkably, the records show the final bill paid on January 16 1970, whereupon the family went on holiday to England, never to return!

Rosina did in fact return, on one other occasion before this, but spent the rest of her school and work life in England, currently living in Northamptonshire.

Another teacher Rosina remembered fondly was Barbara Moss, who may be known to some as Mrs F. Smith of OLA parish (no relation), another past pupil of Kilbreda.

We visited Rosina’s Prep classroom, now Room 23 and various other points of interest around the school including, of course, the obligatory trip up The Tower! We spent a considerable time looking at uniforms and records in the Archives, locating various items of interest. One thing I have yet to locate was a picture of another favourite teacher and also past pupil, Mother Theophane Farley, but I can assure you, I’m still looking!
