WORLD RECORD STARGAZING
EVENT UPDATE

Time: 7.30pm - 8.40pm
Where: Scoresby Secondary College Oval
Who: The whole school community is invited to take part in this memorable science week event.
Background: On Friday 21 August 2015, Scoresby Secondary College will contribute towards a Guinness World Record – ‘Most People Stargazing Across Multiple Sites in a Country, Australia’, the current record is kept by Mexico.
It is set to be a memorable night; the moon will be just before 1st quarter and will appear as a crescent in the sky, exposing the nearby mountains. Visitors are welcome to bring along their own telescopes and binoculars, if you choose to bring torches, these should be covered in red cellophane so they don't disrupt our viewing.
The Astronomical Society of Victoria charge $5 per head for use of their high -tech telescopes and for their expert advice and introduction to the sky. To be registered and to receive a commemorative certificate, the attached rsvp slip below with $5 per person must be returned to our general office by Monday 17 August. There will be a BBQ on the night, bring along your family and friends!
