Crossfit, the sport of Fitness

Jeremy and David from Proactivity came into our fitness class to teach us various different exercises. Our learning intention for the lesson was to develop an understanding of Crossfit and increase our knowledge of different exercises and pieces of equipment to put into our training program.

Starting with a warm up running up and down half court ten times and then into dynamic stretches. He went through the correct technique of various body weight exercises including push ups, sumo squats and burpees. After practicing these exercises we completed an AMRAP, that's as many reps as possible in the time given, this was 60 seconds. Next we moved onto using the power bands. We learned new exercises that we could use in our training programs that worked some of the muscles we have been looking at including the deltoid, bicep and triceps.

The exercises that we completed included the shoulder press and dead lift. We completed all the exercises for 20 seconds working as hard as we could. There last part of the session we worked with dead ball. We learnt how to complete a clean, clean a press and a dead ball slam safely and effectively. We completed rounds of these exercises for two minutes. At the end of the lesson we had a competition to see how far we can throw the dead ball, this is an exercise that could be used to build the fitness component of power.
