Netball

On Thursday 31 May, a group of Year 7 students participated in the Knox Region Netball Competition. In the weeks leading up to the competition, students attended training sessions during lunchtime to refine their skills needed for the game of netball.

On the day, our students competed in a round-robin style competition versing a number of schools located within the outer east suburbs. After the completion of each game, it was clear that our students significantly improved resulting in recording their first win over Fairhills High School.

It was great to see our students demonstrating exemplary behaviour and representing our school with pride.

Well done to the following students:

Brooke Michaliades, Eryl Diesta, Lucy Harrison, Hollie Johnston, Stephanie Wynne, Lori Franklin, Chelsie Cornwall-Barrand, Eisha Monga, and Kaidance Berryman.

Senior Mixed Basketball

This year saw the introduction of mixed teams in the boys Knox Division sports. This means that girls are allowed to play in the boys competitions. Scoresby Secondary College entered its first mixed team in the Senior Boys Basketball competition on Monday 18 June.

Scoresby entered in the B Grade competition and played exceptionally well. In their first game against Sherbrooke Community School, the game was of a very high standard with our team matching them in general play but shooting was a problem and they were narrowly beaten. In the next two games, everyone settled and we easily beat Fairhills High School and Bayswater Secondary College with Bryce Prissmann outstanding in offence. In the Pool final Scoresby played Wantirna Secondary College. We outplayed them comprehensively in general play, but again shooting was a problem and we went down by a couple of points.

Maddy Beet is a new student to Scoresby Secondary College this year and is the first girl to play in a mixed team. Maddy is an outstanding netballer and wanted to try basketball which she has never played. As the day progressed so did Maddy’s grasp on the game and she played extremely well. Thanks must go to Aaron Tarquinio who very capably coached the team on the day. Congratulations to all players on a great and successful day for the college.
