Harmony Incursion

It is only a couple of weeks away that we celebrate cultural inclusion within Australia. We are lucky enough to be a country of cultural diversity; one in which we can learn and appreciate difference and see first hand how it benefits our society. If you have not already done so, can you please make sure you have given your child written permission and paid for our incursion which will be held on the 19th March. I look forward to seeing all students in attendance. If you have any questions about the incursion, please come and speak with me.

Science

In Science we have been having a blast with lots of five star learning in all of the lessons! We have been continuing our focus in biological sciences and have really started to apply what we have been learning to more practical ends. Foundation have been designing living spaces and thinking about how more space to move and play is better than being squished together! Playing a fun game of 'Sardines' helped us find that out! The Juniors have continued to learn about life stages of various living creatures and can confidently tell you about the four stages of an insect life cycle. We've had great success with the mealworms which have completed their development into darkling beetles. The Middle students have been busy continuing their study of Eucalyptus trees. We have planted some seeds and we're now holding our breath to see if they germinate. Fingers crossed! And the Seniors have really shown fantastic collaboration in their learning this week. I'm so proud of the way they worked together to test their knowledge of yeast activation through a pizza dough making process.

Donations: If anyone has spare glass jars at home I'd be more than happy to have them in Science. We often use them for experiments and reusing old ones is a fantastic way to engage in sustainable practice. I could always use old shoe boxes, milk bottles and water bottles too. All donations gratefully received!
