Positive Behaviour Support

Stop, Walk, Talk

As part of our whole school routine, we explicitly teach and support students to deal with conflict in appropriate and respectful ways. Our routine is a consistent message for everyone - STOP, WALK & TALK.  STOP is where students ask other students to STOP the behaviour that they dislike. WALK means they are to walk away from the behaviour they don't like. TALK is only necessary if the conflict situation or disrespect doesn't stop. Here students are required to talk to a staff member.  The routine is designed to enable students to work through conflict with a strategy and then avoid any further conflict.  Chat with your child about what they know about the STOP, WALK & TALK routine.

5 STAR LEARNER

We've had a big focus on what it means to be a 5 Star Learner. Student voice has enabled staff to collate ideas and come up with our school document.  Our previous newsletter mentioned our draft version which is now the official document.

Each level has then listed examples of the 5 C's and what the learner can demonstrate at their level.

Tiered Fidelity Inventory

Last year we had our first Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI) to see that we have embedded PBS as part of our culture at Kilsyth.  We had a fantastic result and passed with 77%. This year we have continued with our PBS work and making it the face of our social and emotional learning as well as a part of our whole school routines.

We are proud of the work we are doing with PBS and how we are doing this work to better our student's social and academic progress.  This was reflected in our latest score of 90% - GREAT!

The TFI includes other elements such as our PBS team, behaviour definitions and policy, classroom procedures, behaviour and teaching expectations and data collection.

We've received our feedback and are ready for future actions as we move towards achieving  new goals.  We look forward to sharing more with you in Term 2 - stay tuned!
