SHARRON FRAME

Head of Senior School

One of the best aspects of my role is observing the personal development and growth of the young men and women in my care. From the time they enter the Senior School to the time they exit, we work with them to prepare them for life after school as responsible, informed and capable citizens. We celebrate their successes and discuss what could be done differently next time if the outcome is not so positive. So when we have an occasion where students have performed above expectations, moving out of comfort zones to do so, we choose to recognise and celebrate the achievement.

A Night at the Theatre began a few years ago as an idea and an opportunity for the VCE Drama students to showcase their work. It has grown to include work in other areas of the Arts, such as media, dance and music. Students from Year 6 to Year 12 are able to show their talent to an audience that has grown, and continues to grow, made up of parents, staff and peers. It is not an easy task for students to speak in front of others, let alone perform an artistic piece, but this year’s students showed no signs of any nerves as they performed, producing probably the best items to date.

For me personally, the calibre of the Unit 3/4 Drama Ensemble acts were at such a high level. The development of Drama in the Senior School as part of the VCE curriculum has gone from strength to strength. The courage and finesse of this year’s group was outstanding.

Students are required to research, write, stage manage, costume design and perform their own original work. This year the stimulus for their work was based on ideas inspired by the well-known Australian movie ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’.

Congratulations to the members of this class for the bravery and commitment you demonstrated to produce such quality performances. You dared to be 'All You Can Be'.

I would like to thank and recognise Elise Zijai for all her ongoing dedication and hard work developing the raw talent of our students in VCE Drama, and wish her well for the birth of her first child.

Save the Date!

Parents and students in Year 10 are invited to the 2019 VCE Information Evening on Wednesday July 25. Subject selection for the VCE years requires serious research into options available, and one that should include the strengths and weaknesses of each individual student.

Students have participated in two forms of testing designed specially to provide this information. The Morrisby Report links student interest and strengths in order to suggest suitable career paths for each student, whilst the ACER SPT test completed this week highlights subject areas most suited to students. Results of both tests will be made available to parents and will be included in discussions regarding subject selections next term.

Subject Selection Forms for Year 12 2019

Subjects selection forms for 2019 will accompany the Year 11 reports this semester. Students will be required to return these forms to the Head of Senior School by Monday July 23.
