Deputy Principals

PETER DICKINSON

Deputy Principal - Operations

It was a pleasure to attend this year’s 'A Night at the Theatre' which was held recently. I thought it was an excellent night, and one which really showcased a great level of achievement across music, dance, media and drama. I liked that it included works from students from Years 6-12. The Year 9 Drama students were also able to then take their work ‘on the road’ to an inter-school event at Xavier College.

Whilst there were many excellent performances, I would like to especially acknowledge the VCE 3/4 Drama students. Having watched years of student theatre, I thought the way each of the three groups responded was outstanding, and really left a strong first impression in my mind of the quality of the drama program at Oakleigh Grammar.

I would like to acknowledge all the staff on their contributions to the success of the evening, and in particular our Head of Arts, Elise Zijai, for her leadership and development of the program over many years.

During May, Oakleigh Grammar played host to the students and staff from the RDZF Primary School in Beijing, China. As part of that visit, I signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Principal. Pledging to support the development of a co-operative working relationship, to promote cultural and educational communication, exchange and friendship between the two communities. We are hopeful that our relationship will support the teaching and learning of additional languages in both schools.
