TERM 2

Grade 6 Information Evening

We enjoyed a very successful Grade 6 Information evening on Tuesday April 30, with a large number of staff and students on hand to showcase our school.

Thank you to everyone involved and in particular to Tracey Hope and Sharon Wall and Key Learning Area Heads for their impeccable organisation of the evening.

Special thanks to our School Captains, Rory and Jet and to our Year 7 Captains Zoe and Ben for their informative and beautifully executed speeches.  To Josh and Stuart, thank you for your work on sound and lighting (with Phil Carr) and to everyone who led tours and spoke to the large number of prospective parents and students in attendance.

Lilydale High School – 100 years old this week

One hundred years ago, on Thursday May 2nd, Lilydale High School opened its doors to its first students; it was then known as Lilydale Elementary School and was situated in Clarke Street, Lilydale.

Over the years, thousands of students have walked the corridors of Lilydale High, made life long friends and enjoyed an education that has taken them to down many pathways both personally and professionally.

Congratulations to everyone who has been involved in some way with LHS over the years.  Thank you for contributing to the school it is today - may many memories be shared.

Don’t forget our Centenary Open Day is on Saturday May 18, from 10 am to 3 pm – all welcome!

Market Day

Congratulations to our Year 11 Business Management students who put on a great Market Day on Thursday.

Despite inclement weather, the students displayed true resilience and problem solving by organising their stalls to effectively serve the many customers who were buying their goods.

Thanks and congratulations to the teachers involved; Sharon Wall, Leah Shields, Aaron Leeson and to our Food Tech assistant team.

Year 10 Central Australia Camp

This week, 160 of our Year 10 students headed off on the Central Australia Camp.

The longest single stretch of driving takes place in the first 24 hours, then the students really begin to see the sights of the beautiful Australian Outback.

I was very pleased to receive this email from a couple who are travelling and came across our school:

My wife and I from Queensland and a number of other caravaners, camped at Marla South Australia last night.

Late in the day, we saw 2 coaches arrive with lots of young people.   We learned this morning that the students are from your school on a trip to Central Australia.

We merely wish to compliment your school management and the accompanying teachers on the excellent behaviour throughout their stay at the camp ground.  It is a rarity these days to see such good behaviour when lots of youth get together.

Respectfully, W and H en route to Central Australia.

We wish everyone a great trip and look forward to hearing all about their adventures upon their return.
