Year 11 Captains' Report

We’ve all recently come off our holidays and we hope that those two weeks have been enough time for everybody to do their holiday homework, but more importantly, to rest and have a little down time.  As it was Easter holidays we hope everyone had their fair share of chocolate...maybe even a bit more.

Fortunately, we had quite a slow start to our term, and our long weekend definitely felt like we were back on holidays, even just for a little bit. However, it is important to remember that our Thursday off, was not just a day off, but a day to remember and acknowledge the landing of Gallipoli and our ANZACs who bravely fought during the war.  We took time on Wednesday 24 April, to acknowledge this bravery by discussing the reasoning for laying wreaths and what ANZAC really stands for at a whole school assembly. On behalf of all the student leaders we would like to thank everyone for how respectful you were.

This past week, the school had their annual Grade 6 Open Night to showcase all the awesome things you can do at LHS.  An amazing performance was held by our school production team, featuring one of the most memorable songs, ‘Dance of the Robe’ from this year’s show Aida. There were also a number of displays around the school with many student lead tours running.

We’d like to say thank you to both our visitors who came, but also to our students and teachers who helped to prepare this wonderful night and for all the little and big things they did.

There are many exciting things coming up in the next few weeks in Year 11, from our Presentation Ball to Arts Camp, which we can’t wait to talk more about next time.

IPT Term 2

The IPT schedule for Term 2 has been released to all VCE students on the Year 11 and 12 Google Classrooms, it is also available on the VCE noticeboards.

Make sure you check this carefully to see when your SACs are for the term and plan accordingly.

Attendance

It is a requirement at Lilydale High School that students attend all timetabled classes so that teaching and learning opportunities can be maximised.

If students have reached their limit for absences from class,  there is an opportunity for this time to be redeemed. Students can speak to their Year Level Coordinator to discuss making this time up at lunchtime, during afternoon Study Periods or after school.

Furthermore, it is a requirement that students attend Home Group, even if they have Study Periods, Periods 1 and 2.

Approving Absences

Any absences from school must be parent/guardian approved – you can do this through a signed note or via the Parent Approval Button on Compass.

You can also use Compass to view your student’s past absences.
