I express myself in many ways

The Arts

I will have the opportunity to immerse myself in various creative activities in the areas of Media Arts, Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts on Friday afternoons. I will work in teams and individually on a project that enables me to think, problem solve and wonder. Such experiences provide opportunities for me to confidently and resiliently share my learning in front of an audience as well as to use and provide  effective feedback, ensuring that I am always aiming high.

We are artists....

We are performers, storytellers and scriptwriters...

Information Technology (Chrome Books & iPads)

All Mellor children have already been active users of Google Drive during Reception and Year 1. Continuing to use the Chrome Books in Mellor as a method of researching and collaboration through G Suite will enable children to be equipped with the skills to independently view learning tasks  and create work samples to showcase their thinking and learning with peers, teachers and families both at school and home. iPads are also being used to present and reflect on work using apps such as camera, Book Creator and Explain Everything. Children use technology in Mellor to become researchers,  collaborators and inquirers!

Bookmaking

#weareauthors

Every child is an illustrator. Every child is a story teller. Every child is an author!

All children bring with them a wealth of literacy understandings and competencies, gathered through years of talking and noticing about books and listening to and telling stories in different formats. The Bookmaking approach to literacy values and honours children’s prior learning and understandings, allowing them freely create pieces of writing showcasing their creativity and knowledge as a writer.

Bookmaking is used across all early years classes, embedded across all curriculum areas as an approach to writing. Children are exposed to many genres, authors, illustrators and particular crafts of writing to further enhance their skill set as authors.

Loose Parts

What are loose parts?

Loose parts are natural or synthetic found, bought or upcycled materials that children can move, manipulate, control and change within their play.

Alluring, captivating loose parts capture children's curiosity, give free reign to their imagination and motivate learning.

How will we use our Loose Parts safely and respectfully?
