Sports dates for 2023

The Armidale Diocesan Primary Sports Council, webpage has this year's dates set for all sporting activities for Diocesan level and above. Please refer to this if you think you may need to plan for future events. 

Athletics training 

Mr Jon Welsh has kindly offered to take our interested students for athletics training on the following dates and times.

Please note this is NOT a school event and your presence will be required at any after school sessions.

Training days, from week 1, Term 3;

1. Tuesdays 3.30 pm at the Guyra Oval like last year
2. Thursdays from 2.30 to 3.15 pm at the school the same as last year

 This will continue until 18th August

Athletics carnival

Qualifying Standards

The qualifying standards for events in both track and field have changed from previous years. There is an additional qualifying time for the 800m event now also.

NSWCPS Cross Country.

On Tuesday 13th June,  Our five qualifying students from Diocesan Cross Country in Barraba, Ellie Bavea, Hugo Sisson, Scarlett Newberry, Bella Hayes and Flynn McFarlane and their families travelled to Sydney to represent the Armidale Diocese in the NSWCPS Cross Country. All students ran so well on such a trying course and strived to the best of their abilities to make their families and SMOTA very proud and exhibited great sportsmanship.

Flynn McFarlane, bring it home at a very impressive 6th place landing him selection to compete at the NSW PSSA Cross Country champs in July, Well done Flynn.

Toni Palmer Memorial Shield

For students interested in participating in the Armidale Diocesan Toni Palmer Memorial Shield Rugby League day. The competition is open to all “Open Primary” students who were born in 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014. No player is allowed to be involved if they turn thirteen (13) years of age during 2023. 

Event Date: Wednesday 28th June 2023 

Event Venue: Kamilaroi Oval, Byron Street, Inverell 

If you would like your child to attend, please complete the compass consent form by no later than Tuesday 20th June 2023.

Diocesan Rugby Union

Darcy Sisson who made it to Probables and Possibles at last month's Rugby Union trails in Tamworth, received a call this week to join the team in Forbes on Monday the 27th June. 

Congratulations Darcy and good luck - we canot wait to hear of your success. 

House Colours 

St Mary of the Angels have 3 school house colours. We encourage our students to wear these on the day of the swimming carnival (as well as all future sport events), alternatively, sports uniform can be worn. In 2023 the school house colours are: 

McAuley - RED

Mercy - BLUE

Mackillop - YELLOW (previously green however this has been changed as of 2023 to not clash with the school uniform)
