Welcome to the end of Week Eight Angels,
Auuugghhhhh!!!! Going so FAST!
Have a look at this photo taken by Leisa Jones this morning of her property sign! The Year 1/2 students were fascinated by the formation of the frost and Mrs Nugent loved the fact that the cattle and dog looked like they had fur!
A gorgeous frost this morning, thankfully the absence of the wind of yesterday that saw many of our wonderful school community trying to find the sun!
It is a timely reminder that FULL winter school uniform is required for students in Terms 2 and 3. Please send students in uniform that is appropriate for the conditions. Warm stockings are available from Lowes, Kmart and Target.
Over the past few terms, the School Advisory Council and Parents and Friends Committee have been working on improving our access to appropriate uniform for all of our students.
Providing a range of options within our current uniform for our diverse students and their needs. Thank you to our School Advisory Council for their extensive discussions, to Mitchell Hope for his work behind the scenes to diversifying our uniform access and to Penny Furphy for collating and preparing parent information form.
Please access this form HERE. The form will also be sent out via Compass Event notification to ensure all parent/carers acknowledged the additions. Please note the uniform has NOT changed, it is providing students with a range of options.
Welcome to new staff for St Mary of the Angels
I am delighted to announce to our school community, the appointments of two new educators commencing in Term 3.
Miss Eleisha Outridge will be our Stage 3 (Year 5/6) Teacher and Miss Natalia Mayes will be our RFF and class cover educator.
Miss Mayes is currently one of the Year 5 teachers at St Mary's in Armidale and was a targeted graduate for the Catholic Schools Office.
Natalia is heavily into sports and undertakes coaching in football etc.
Miss Outridge joins us from St Joseph's in Barraba and is both a sports and creative arts strength. Eleisha runs dance classes in Barraba and is also the sports coordinator at St Joseph's and will commence that role here at SMOTA in Term 3.
I would like to publicly acknowledge and thank the staff of SMOTA for their commitment to our students and for their unfailing and professional support of our school! It has been a challenging Term, trying to cover classes. I will be glad to see the end of it, as will the brilliant staff and the real MVPs ...our students :)
Dr Cameron Stelzer Author Visit
This morning I have had confirmation that we have been able to secure Dr Cameron Stelzer the author of a number of children's books such as the S.O.S (School of Scally Wags) Series, Scally Wag Series and Pie Rat Series, for a visit on the 11th of October.
Dr Cameron will spend the day with our students in writing and drawing workshops, Dr Cameron is a teacher by profession and we are really looking forward to his engaging sessions with our students. Cameron will also be available for personalised book signings, his books are in our current Book Club magazine.
Please see HERE for his website.
Holy Communion
Last Saturday night on the vigil for Feast of Corpus Christi, four of our students celebrated their First Eucharist with family, friends and the parish. I would like to thank all parents and staff for their support and preparation of our Candidates and to Father O'Shea for conferring the Sacrament.
Congratulations to Rylan W, Vancara L, Danielle N and Kirby N!
