Pet Dogs In and Around School Grounds

Whilst Buninyong Primary School understands that many families in our school community keep dogs as pets, to ensure that our school remains a safe and inclusive place for everyone, pet dogs are not permitted on school grounds.

Our school community is diverse, and may include people that are allergic or uncomfortable around dogs. We are also conscious of the health hazards that may be posed by dogs. We ask that families please leave their pet dogs at home or safely tether them outside school grounds when attending our school or school events.

At times, families may arrange in advance with a class teacher to bring a pet for show and tell which is fine.

The City of Ballarat also requires that all dogs in our community are on a lead and under effective control at all times, unless in a designated “off leash” area.

We appreciate your assistance in following these guidelines.

Bunjil Awards

Congratulations to the following students who received a Bunjil Award at last week’s 3-4 assembly:

Bunjil awards recognise student achievement and those who display our school values of being respectful, responsible and kind (replacing our previous ABC & ROCCH awards).

Well done! All of our weekly winners can look forward to a hot chocolate with a principal later this week. Here are some of our students enjoying their catch-up last week.

Mother’s Day Stall

We hope all our mums and special ladies enjoyed a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday. Our students were very enthusiastic in the lead up to the day and participated in lots of activities designed to learn more about gratitude and giving thanks.

It was lovely to see the excitement and anticipation on the student’s faces as they chose something special, with lots of thought and consideration going into their purchases. We thank our school community for supporting the stall.

A special thanks to Jenny for cultivating and donating the lovely plants that some lucky people received, as well as to Deb, Teri and our grade 6 helpers for assisting with the running the stall.

IDAHOBIT Day: International Day Against Homophobia Biphobia and Transphobia - May 17th

We are proud to recognise and celebrate the rich diversity of people and cultures in our school and aim to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, their families, staff and wider community.

We hope to continue contributing to building a more tolerant, respectful and understanding society and we encourage treating everyone with respect, fairness and compassion at all times.

We wish to acknowledge and show our support of the LGBTQI members of our school community. Through our words and actions, we can all make a difference.
