School Closure Day

Please note in your diaries the date of our next School Closure Day: Staff Professional Development Day which has been scheduled for Monday 10th July, the first day of Term 3.

On this day, in preparation for our School Review, staff will be engaging in self-assessment and reflection on our improvement and performance over the past four-year period of our School Improvement Plan.

As a staff, we will be utilizing the School Improvement  Framework Rubric to plot our performance against set criteria of the five spheres of schooling. These spheres are the core drivers that support student growth and development-

  • Religious Dimension
  • Student Wellbeing
  • Learning and Teaching
  • Leadership and Management
  • School Community

Students do NOT attend school this day.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

Last Thursday and Friday our shortlisted candidates running for election for our inaugural Student Representative Council (SRC), delivered a short speech to their community outlining why they would be an ideal member of our SRC.

Following the speeches, all students in the community voted (by secret ballot) for their preferred candidates. Votes were counted and collated using the preferential voting system and successful candidates were presented to their community.

On Monday our newly formed SRC was presented to our whole school community at Assembly and each received their badges.

I would like to firstly acknowledge all children who nominated themselves for election, congratulate those who were shortlisted and applaud those who were elected to council -

  • Year 1: Katie Viegas & James Hellard
  • Year 2: Bianca Delovski & Liam Verga
  • Year 3: Felix Bilog & Alexander Berkis
  • Year 4: Eva Fleet & Oscar Ramos
  • Year 5: Gelila Alemu & Elwood Nappa

These children will join our Year 6 Student Leaders to form our 2023 SRC and will be the voice of the student body.

We look forward to working with them as they bring the voice of their peers 'to the table' on things that affect their education, for example, 1. Being the voice of students on things like:

• School rules

• Classroom environments

• Learning activities

• Wellbeing

• School buildings and play areas

 2. Responding to student needs and concerns by: • Supporting all students to speak up and be heard

• Finding out the opinion of the student body and communicating it

• Reporting back to the student body

• Creating an inclusive school for every student

3. Helping everyone make friends and feel safe at school with:

• Lunchtime activities

• Student communications like newsletters and podcasts

• Peer support and mentoring
