Term 2 – the busiest sport term on the calendar. What better way to start the term, than with two students representing HKHS at the Combined High Schools swimming carnival. Haylie Green and Cooper Manser proudly competed in multiple events, and walked away with some outstanding results (including some personal bests). It is an incredible achievement to make this stage, and I am sure both students (and more) will be looking to pick up where they left off next year.

This term also sees the 52nd Annual Athletics Carnival take place on the Thursday 29 May at Mingara Athletics Centre. In what is a great day out, we hope to see all students participate, get involved and show house pride on the day. Some notable highlights are always the staff versus Year 12 race (staff are on a winning streak), the 100m sprints and the Year 12 bacon and egg rolls.

The Zone Cross Country took place on Friday 19 May at Hylton Moore Oval. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and 47 students represented our school. With races varying from 3km to 6km, every single student ran to the best of their ability, and represented the school with utmost respect.

Tuesday Sport has kicked off with a bang – with sports such as clip and climb, ten pin bowling, oztag and soccer on offer, students have demonstrated excellent participation and enjoyment in their chosen sport. In particular, Year 7 are to be commended on their attitude and effort in what is their first term of regular Tuesday Sport. Selections for Term 3 sports will be opening in Week 8, so keep an eye out for daily notices and emails.

In what is possibly the biggest success story in a long time for HKHS, the Open Girls Volleyball team have advanced to the Quarter Finals of the Sydney North Knockout Competition. This means that Henry Kendall High School is one of the top 8 high schools (out of 128) in the region. All members of the team should be extremely proud of themselves, the teamwork and sportsmanship they have shown through each round so far. Hopefully the semi finals await!
