Principal's Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week we celebrate National Reconciliation Week. The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2023, Be a Voice for Generations, encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and socialise. This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme urges all Australians to use their power, their words and their actions to create a better, more just Australia for all of us.

Lord,

open up our hearts so that we may hear the message you teach of a world in which the wrongs of the past are recognised - a world in which a reconciled people walk and talk together sharing stories; a world in which all burn with the desire to have your peace and justice reign.

We ask this in Jesus' name.

Amen

Pentecost Sunday

This Sunday we celebrate the Church’s birthday, the feast of Pentecost, when Jesus’ disciples received the gift of the Holy Spirit and went forth to spread the good news;

Pentecost commemorates the coming of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles. After Jesus rose on Easter, He appeared to the Apostles over the next 40 days, teaching them the significance of what had happened to Him. They listened, but didn’t really understand, so Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit, who would enlighten them and give them everything they would need to carry the Good News to people all over the world.

Reflection; Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, how do I touch the lives of other people?

Catholic Education Week

This week we have been celebrating Catholic Education Week. During the week we have been celebrating the unique qualities that our schools provide in Catholic Education. Tomorrow the students from St. Mary’s, Sacred Heart, St. Brendan’s and school leaders from Trinity College will celebrate Mass together and share morning tea at our school. It will be wonderful to see all the children gathered together to celebrate what is special about our schools.

Biggest Morning Tea / Classroom Visits

Our Biggest Morning Tea will be held next Thursday 1st June in the MPR. We are encouraging parents/grandparents to attend our morning tea to raise funds for cancer research. You are encouraged to take the time to visit your child(ren)’s classrooms at 9.30 to see the wonderful work they have been producing throughout the year. Parents and grandparents can then move to the MPR at 10.15 for morning tea.

Fortnightly Marian News

At last night’s Advisory Council meeting it was decided to trial a fortnightly newsletter instead of weekly. Parents are receiving a lot of information/communication via Class Dojo, emails and text messages from the office, so after much discussion we felt there wasn’t a real need for a weekly newsletter. We will seek feedback and review this in the second half of the year.

Prep Enrolments for 2024

I would like to have enrolments for next year finalised by the middle of next term if possible. Therefore, if you have any extended family or friends intending on enrolling their child next year, it would be greatly appreciated if you could pass this information on to them, so they can arrange for a meeting and a tour of the school. I have conducted quite a few tours over the past month and enrolment forms are starting to be submitted. I request all existing families that have a child starting in Prep next year, submit their enrolment form as soon as possible.

Enjoy the rest of your week.
